Blue Sheet in Trees on Can99V2

    Blue Sheet in Trees on Can99V2

    Hello, just yesterday I noticed an anomolie in CAN99V2 while running OR Stable Version 1.4 & also in Experimental mode. This does not show up when trying to find it in TSRE5 RE. Everything shows up fine, and I am sure, from buildings, that I am looking in the correct spot.
    Any suggestions on where to start to look? Pic of issue:

    Does OpenRails kick an error?
    Check the log.

          Nothing like that in my installation of can99v2...looks like something is missing...textures or shapes, or both...check log, also on the "experimental tab" under options -- make sure you have the "show shape warnings" box checked. After you've got the information, uncheck the box, or you might have quite a lot of warnings appearing in the log.

            Just looks like you're missing a texture. Open the route in an editor, go to the blue polygon, select it and find out the name. Open that shape in Shape Viewer and select textures, it will list the texture... that's the one you're missing. Google it and you should find the name of the file that contains it (faster then using the library search function these days).

                I included pics of the Route Issue on both the Game and in TSRE5, that is my problem, they do not show up in TSRE5 RE.

                  OK, I checked the box, now I have a number of Shapes that show: "Missing UV index in vertex xxx (which is a line number)"
                  Nothing shows up as an error for "TREE Files". I ran the route through RR, and no errors showed up. These sheets only show up in the Tree-Clumps, they also resemble the Tarnsparent support for the trees and other tall objects.

                  Back to that "UV Index", how can I correct that? Is it important to running OR?

                    Not to worry about the "UV Index"... uncheck the "show shape warnings" and follow Paul's advice...much more logical and to the point. Find the correct tree texture required by the shape file. You could search your other routes using the windows search function...quite possibly it exists in another route.

                      Yes, I did try Paul's way first thing, but the Blue Sheet does not show in TSRE5, and the tree types seem to have their correct ACE files. I am going to check for this annomolie in a couple other routes with those tree files, if there are any. After a rudimentary search yesterday, I could not find them in other routes. I will try running a couple of them anyway, to see if it may be an OR issue, I doubt it, but hey.
                      Thanks for all the suggestions. The pictures I posted are of the same area and you can see they do not show in TSRE5.

                        Do you have a milepost or shape file name?
                        I looked around the route and don't see anything out of the ordinary.

                          Don checking tree shapes in both ORTS and TSRE...they render correctly in the vegreville area...see screenshot. I'm at a loss, something is amiss in your installations, or ( respectfully ) "pilot error"...apologies, I cannot be more helpful. Look's like good old fashioned detective work.

                            I want to thank everyone for their suggestions. After some experimenting, I found that I had the "Load DDS textures in preference to ACE" box checked, figuring it was a normal thing to do as there are some objects with DDS files. However, UNchecking the box cured the issue. Simple, huh?
                            After all that and it was just that box checked that was causing the Blue Sheet to appear out of nowhere. Strange things these computers! :-)

                              Well, are there any .dds files named the same as the .ace files used by those trees?

                              Had a similar problem with various textures not displaying on the OR intro Scenic route. Turns out when they went through and converted all the textures from ACE to DDS, not all the shape files were opened and edited, with some shapes still looking for ace files. They displayed grayed out unless that check box was checked. Some shapes were calliing for texture files that didnt exist and relied upon the open rails code to substitute to cover that route prep mistake. I eventually use the log to find all the ace-calling stagglers and opened them and change the texture calls from ace to dds.
