First time install of WP3 has no track or roadbed??

installed 3DTrains WP3 Feather River to Open Rails ver 1.5.1. Yes, I checked the box to add Scalerail to the WP3 install. Fired up the simulation and there is no roadbed or track (with the exception the switches seem to display a dark black). See photo...

What to do to get the route to install properly?

In the MSTS days this route was designed to be a mini-route, meaning an installation that is shared with no other routes. Differences in Scalerail and Scaleroads packages included in the route means that continues to be the case even with Open Rails. You offer no info on whether you have complied with that.

The WP3 will work just fine in the folder with your other routes.
You'll need to copy the track textures you want to use from the ScaleRail texture folder in the Global folder to the textures folder for the route.
It should be explained in a readme somewhere.

First time I've seen that with a Scalerail route, but by chance is this mixed with another route that may have installed DDS enabled shapes in Global for Scalerail?

Also, you may want to check to see if you clobbered the Tsection. The version which comes with the route is extremely out of date.
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

          hello geepster775,

I don't know what you are trying to tell me. Are you saying that I should not check the box for the Scalerail files to be installed by the WP3 installer? Could you enumerate on how I would 'comply' with the reqiorements of WP3 when itiis installed in OR?

            Hi rdayt,

thanks for your response. I read the documentation included with the WP3 install looking for the instructions you referenced. I see no mention of inserting/copying of files between folders to get WP3 to work.

As a note of exasperation, for a route so beloved by the trainsim community why wasn't this payware updated for ORTs plug-and-play compatbility by now? 😕

It was meant to be installed as an MSTS mini-route, and as such it was fully plug-and-play. To tell the truth, the best straight-out-of-the-box route for MSTS.

And one other thing, make sure to disable superelevation. That feature will not work correctly with this route.

                  Hi,
I agree with dcarleton - Feather River installs without any problem as a mini-route in MSTS.
Also, I have just successfully installed it into an empty Open Rails folder - no problem with tracks being displayed (I DO NOT use super-elevation!)

However, I have one big problem with running both the MSTS- and ORTS-installed versions - the sky looks like this (summer clear - but also applies to others)
There are no associated errors reported in the log - I'm using T1.5.1-940-g874405e71. Running in MSTS shows 'normal' sky.

I am running the DVD version 1.06 - have there been any patches, particularly for Open Rails?

                  Cheers,

I found a reference to the term Super-elevation in the .../options/experimental directory of the OR setup. Is this what you mean?

This feature's adjustments would seem to affect all the routes and activities in OR, not just WP3. There is no check box or radio-button to disable Super-elevation. There ARE three windows titled...
                    • Level (currently at 0 )
                    • Maximum Length (currently at 50 meters)
                    • Gauge (currently at 1435 mmeters)
Each window has an Up and Down selector button.

                    What do I do?

The sky dome used a graphical trick to optimize it for MSTS. In OR, it becomes a liability. Try running it with MSTS Environments unchecked.

Setting the Superelevation level to 0 disables it.

Thanks, mate, that did the trick.
I don't seem to have come across that problem before - one's never too old to learn something new!!

                            Hi Ged,

I am using the re-issue (available for download on Trainsim). The download states it is ver 1.6. Could you walk me through how you installed your copy into OR? What do you mean by,

"...installed it into an empty Open Rails folder"

                            Thanks!

Create a folder and install WP3 to it. In Open rails options add this folder in Content tab. After that you can choose WP3 from list in the main window in OR
