With respect --- then it was not done by the book, recheck your work. Two other people ( myself being one of them ) have had problems...both of us rechecked our work and found our errors.
Mine >>> forgot to put turntables.dat file in route's "OpenRails" folder ( if the dat file is not in the route's "OpenRails" folder, it will appear but it will not revolve )
Other user ( at Elvas ): Eric"s new turntable shape file SR_Turntable_w_37m.s was not placed in the Global/Shapes directory. ( if the shape file is not in the proper folder, it will not appear in the simulation )Comment

As mentioned before the Turntable shape must be in the Global Shapes folder.
I had encountered this problem myself prior to release. It turned out that at that time, I didn't have a couple of things just right in the files, which I did fix before release.
I tested it on another route before working to update the FBL turntable.
I assume you have ScaleRail, let me know if you are still having problems.M. PayneComment

I'm not sure what happened on your end.

FBL is not a favourite route of mine. I almost always focus on passenger operations. Before I had this problem, I had decided it would be interesting to see and admire someone else's work, but I would not be keeping the route. I have since deleted it, as it is not in my area of interest.
Thank you for your kind response and offer of assistance.Comment

Do you have the *modified* turntable shape files installed, with the animation sections added to it in the Global/Shapes folder? These are different shape files than what come with the default Scale Rails installers! If you leave the default ScaleRails turntable shape file in the Global/Shapes folder, it will cause exactly what you are experiencing - the shape disappears and leaves a blank hole. This is because the Turntables.dat file is looking for a shape with the necessary animation parameters, but if the shape doesn't have them, it errors out and doesn't display any shape in the sim.~Sean Kelly~

Correct, the 37m turntable in the Scalerail installation file did not have any animation parameters. There is a new upload in the library (linked above) which has the animation parameters needed. If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Turntable problems aside, the update is better than very good, and I'm impressed by the work the author(s) did on it. But passenger ops are my interest, and FBL simply doesn't offer enough. So, for me, terrific as the update is, FBL is never going to be a route I'll use often.
And I really do appreciate all the help I'm getting here.Last edited by dfalshaw; 06-17-2024, 18:30.Comment

I should say, that at least in the case of FBL there should be no editing of the DAT file. Assuming the animated SR turntabIe was placed in the global shapes already. The DAT file was a drop-in update to the routes open rails folder.
Now, if you are going to use it in other routes all you should be editing is the number of turntables and the locations ( the tile in which it is located ) which is at the top.
I am planning to mod the WP with an operable turntable.
Again, before its release, I had the problem with the disappearing turntable, and if I recall I didn't have a thing or two correct in the DAT file. Which I did correct, and tested the process in my
Ohio Division route first before moving to the FBL.
I hope that this clears up any confusion.Last edited by CSXT Q-317; 06-19-2024, 12:13.M. PayneComment

Finally got the time to install the turntable mod, and it works perfectly. I just had to remember that <CNTRL><C> and <ALT><C> where used to rotate the table. It works great and when I get a few days I'll be creating a new activity. Frampton to Fort Fairfax.Pacific Northwest RailfanComment
