    Best Activity Editor?

    Hi all,
    while trying to pick up cars/consist in a railyard, my engine goes into Emergency Brake Mode with an ‘Out of Control’ message. No matter direction I approach the string of cars from or, what path through different switches I attempt, the engine freezes in Emergency Brake mode. I have come to the belief that the problem is not me but, a fault in the activity (I must add these are activities written for MSTS routes).

    Questons,..
    • Can we open up any existing activity file and change parameters of that activity?
    Example: add another 30 yards to the track path before the engine trips an ‘Out of Control’ event.
    • Is there an activity editor (payware okay) that has the ability to open existing activities and modify them?
    • What is the easiest to use activity editor available?
    Thanks for your continued support!

    (For those that need to know what route/actiivity I was playing the Maple Leaf Tracks Sandpatch Route under ORTS and running the MLT included 'Blue Lick Turn Part 1.act' }

    Any setoffs or pickups that involve throwing switches and going briefly off-path must be done in manual mode.

      Use "Contrib.TrackViewer.exe" ( normally called Trackviewer ) to create, modify, edit and view paths in an activity. Trackviewer is included with every version of Open Rails. Search the forum for threads about Trackviewer and how to use, there is a manual. There is no Open Rails Activity Editor....usually folks use the Trackviewer ( for path work ) in combination with TSRE Consist Editor to work on activities, also using a text editor --- such as ConText ( or others ) to edit activity files. You could try using the MSTS AE, if you are so inclined.

        One point Gerry. It is NOT there the TSRE- Consist Editor that creates/edits activities, but it a tool within the TSRE5.exe that can be used to create/edit activities. That tool can be reached after selecting your install and route then Menu item Tools and Activities or the F4 key. So run TSRE5.exe not the CE Batch file.

          Not to get too far off topic, but having an ability to call up the Consist Editor from the TSRE menu is a long term goal... the batch files work, but I'd like to get away from them as a requirement. There's also a settings option to select which mode you launch as a default.
          If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!
