    Track Versions?

Message is popping up when I try to open certain activity files written for the old MLT Sandpatch Route (ver 1.0)

Should I answer yes? If I must uptate the track file to ver 39, will it cause other
sandpatch activities (not asking for the new track version) to fail?

Anyone have experience with this 'track version' please add your input πŸ˜€

    First 2 Questions:
What Activities are you trying to turn? Can't really help with an unknown. Might well have the same activities installed to check.
What version/build of the Track Data base are you using? TSection.dat in Global.

To answer your question, say yes. Either the activity will work, or it won't. Not sure where an updated track build came from other than the TSection.bat. There was no updates I am aware of no updates offered for Sandpatch. My copy of the Route TSection.dat goes back to 2002.

      Hi Kevin,
The version of Sandpatch currently available from the MLT site has TDB version 39. If yours is 21, it must be a very old version and the chance is that your activity won't work.
Of course, I'm assuming that you haven't tried modifying the Sandpatch .tdb file yourself!

      Cheers,
      Ged

He's NOT asking about the GLOBAL Tsection.dat file but the routes TDB --- although the GLOBAL TSection.dat file should be the most recent found in the TS library.

Wasn't sure - and now see mine is ver. 21 and I have been running activities going back to at least 2008 a-ok.

Edit - Ver. 21 has the same number of track nodes as Ver. 39, and from what I can compare - those first four nodes are identical. Perhaps there was on real change in the track? I've had Activities on other Routes with a similar message, and had those activities work just fine. - Interesting Message refers to Version while the .tdb uses Serial, why I missed it, as I was looking for a "Version" number - why couldn't use common nomenclature????

            Hi oper190,

            to answer your questions...

I am trying to install (speis01a.zip) MSTS Activity--Hauling Coal File ID 68808 by E. Swenson dated 2008-06-03. It is part one of a 3 file set.

Opening the TSection.dat file, I do not see a version/build number. Perhaps I am just not recognizing it. I CAN tell you the TSection.dat file came on the MLT Sandpatch (ver. #1) install CD dated 08/07/2002.

The file the error is referring to is the file Sandpatch.tdb NOT the Tsection.dat. Mine is Serial ( 39 ) and dated 10-29-2002.

              Here is serial 39

                Hi slipperman,

I have a copy of the MLT Sandpatch cd, first version, #1. And you are correct in assuming I have not dug into the psossibility of updating the Track database. Is that even possible? Where would I get a version 39?

                Regards,
                Kevin

It's not in either Tsection.dat file (GLOBAL and route), but in the route's .tdb file, right at the top = Serial ( 39 ).

I have tried installing the activity into my SandPatch installation ( tdb 39) using APKExtractor3 but DID NOT see that warning message!
Open Rails starts the activity successfully and there's no indication of any broken paths although numerous warnings are in the log, many of them regarding the cleargp.eng file.

Apologies, Charles, you posted while I was composing!!

                  Cheers,

Just install the activity and see if it runs...for goodness sake!

Do you wish to continue? The answer is YES

                      Sorry crstagg,

I was composing when you posted. Just found your post and zip file. I added the Sandpatch.tdb file you uploaded and now the activity files upload w/o the warning message. I ran the activity and all seems to be working properly.

It's quite a learning curve to Train Simulator.

                      Thanks to all who reponded.

Don't have that set of Activities, as I don't have MSTS on my laptop so cannot open packed activities. However downloaded the MSTS Activity--CSX Q359-07

which is from 2012 and running on my Route with .tdb Serial/Version 21 no problems as well as have other activities from era 2008 that run a-ok, so I do not think there is a problem with the .tbd using 21 or 39 - My Serial 21 is dated 8/7/2002 so the change was something like 2 months later or less. The only update at the time with Sandpatch was a cabview update, MTL never posted any Build updates so I have to believe there is no real change in the .tdb as I'm running every activity okay with 21.
