Sound Process hung issue in Open Rails

I was running a train on the Donner Pass route and closed the game out to eat dinner and when I came back, Open Rails would freeze and crash upon loading. I checked my game log and sure enough I get a Sound Process hung error causing the game to crash. Is there way to fix this? Everything else seems to work okay up until that point. The sounds I used I have been using for years and never had an issue until tonight.

Run the activity from the start and see what you get.

If you provide a copy of your error log there are tons of people here that can help you!

One thing you might try is to run SMS Checker in the route's sound folder and see if it finds anything.

I think there is another major bug that is already present at the start of OpenRails!

I've noticed on occasion sometimes that the sounds continue running even after you've paused or exited the game. Something definitely not all there.

I, too, experience this on my 8.1 machine. Been that way for over 2 years with no harm, it appears to be related to any machine OS that is non-compliant in phone-home readiness.

I ran the same activity and it did not crash, but I got a slew of new errors that are recent involving AI paths not working. AI train 39 was moving in the map when the activity started but when it got to Franconia where I was running around the train ahead in the siding, the 39 train was oncoming in the other direction and it hit a red board and became stuck there. It was one of those 3 trains on 2 tracks and a siding meets. Not sure what the issue is regarding the permanent downgrading of advanced adhesion during the session is all about.

I am also on the latest Testing ver which jdawg should know to upgrade to before sounding any alarms. It appears I'm on a newer .net framework, too

I will try all those things y’all have mentioned on my next day off. I am also using an 8.1 machine as my 11 machine is sidelined with a sound and video problem (the drivers got corrupted during the recent update to Windows).

As for the path issues I was experiencing, I had forgotten that the activities for Seligman require that the 'location linked passing paths' needs to be UNchecked in the options box. Once I did that, the path issues stopped showing in the log.

jdawg, that crash could be caused by an OR slowdown due to the computer being too slow. You could try to reduce the Viewing Distance (that you have set to 10000, which is quite a high value for a non performing computer) or try using OR NewYear MG, that can disable the watchdog interventions that exit the game.
