    Route Loading Error

I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for this question, but I will start here & hope for the best. Today, I d/l the BNSF Lakeside Subdivision route. It is not a new route but I just discovered its existence today. The d/l contains 8 spanned folders. I d/l the zipped files directly onto one of my directories (D Drive). When I extract the route folder to the intended mini-route, I get an error message that saying the route file will not copy. A copy of said error message is attached. When I hit the "Try Again" button, I get a second message that "The same volume cannot be used as both the source and destination." When I go to the mini-route's Route folder, the extracted folder appears along w/the other routes already residing in the mini-route, but the folder is empty. None of the route's files or sub-folders are present.

I have tried extracting to both another internal drive as well as an external drive, but the result is the same.

Would appreciate any thoughts folks might have on this. As always, thanks for any help. clint

    Try unpacking with 7zip

BNSF lakeside is a set of spanned files. Make a temporary folder and unzip each zip file into it. You will then have a zip file and several z0 files. Run the zip as normal and it will also extract the content from the other files in the folder.

So I have the Lakeside route files & folders unzipped & installed. However, the files required to operate the sim have no content, including the MKR, RDB, REF, RIT, TDB,TIT, & TRK as well as the Installme.bat file, which will not launch. (See Attached)
Do I need to re-d/l 1 or more of the spanned files to get this content, or could there be some other reason that the content is missing. clint

You dont mention which zip app you are using, not all can do spanned zip files correctly. 7zip is one known to work. Windows built-in, not so much.

Initially I was using the Windows app & it did not work. After reading the note from Derek, I d/l 7Zip & used that. That is the reason I got the file folders loaded into the mini-route. But I am puzzled as to why I can't run the Installme bat file. Have never had an issue w/that before. c

Does your mini route have the default routes in the correct place?

Randy: It does. Yes. It has 13 other routes that all operate fine.

This has all of the missing files in it

Thank you for the copies of the missing files. After adding them to the route file, I checked in RE to verify what content was/was not there & it appears that there may be an issue w/the TDB. All of the usual track pieces show up in the Track Objects window but not in RE & not in the sim. I have also noticed that there is a zipped file in the TD folder that I cannot open. I'm not familiar w/that particular folder but am wondering if it might not have something to do w/the missing TDB files. I tried opening said file w/7Zip w/no luck. c

I have track in my Lakeside sub install. Do you have any trainsimulations routes in the same folder? If yes, that is the reason. Trainsimulations routes use DDS textures but the Lakeside is looking for the same shapes using ACE textures.

Actually, I do have 1 route from TrainSimulations residing in the mini-route where I installed the Lakeside route. Its the Mullan Pass route. So if I understand what you are saying, I can move the Lakeside route into a separate mini-route folder that does not contain a TrainSimulations route, the TDB will function as intended?

Yes, but you will also need the old Xtracks track shapes or the replacements recently made by Eric. Both can be found in the library here. The TDB is functioning normally as shown by the black textures where the track should be, it is just not finding what it is actually looking for.

I understand, and thanks so much for your help. Installation of spanned files have always been a challenge for me, but I never did have one that caused me this much trouble. clint

Just a reminder, do not install any other routes with the TrainSimulations OR routes --- Mullan, SP Shasta, CN Ruel ... Keep them separate, following the TS Instructions.
