ORTS Rolling Stock wish list

There is no SD70ACu unit available in the ORTS world. Only SD70ACe/M-2's and SD90MAC or SD90/43MAC's.. Which, essentially an SD70ACu, is an SD90/43MAC with an SD70ACe Isolated cab.

I'm not 100 percent sure what would need to be done on the outside model wise, but I can't imagine an AC44C6M or AC4400CWM is much different than the AC4400CW's currently available in ORTS..

Speaking of SD90MACs with the "ACe" cab (which I'm still wondering about why its called). The Mullan SD70ACe cab seems to just fit the older SD9043MAC.

I believe Diesels West made some MP15's in NS paint. As for the slugs, KLW has RP-E4D's available on their website, but not RP-E4U's (the kind in seen in the picture).

Thanks, you jogged my memory, I had forgotten that I had the DW MP15's...& thanks for refer to KLW, found and downloaded the slugs. Now to put the power together with some of the DOD rolling stock, adjust all the physics and see what I can come up with.

I'd basically said that with just the Added Door F/A & Re-Paint. Yes, It'll need to be Updated with Physics, but there's CP_SD70ACu_7030.zip or something up in The F/L already. Would need a Flashing Ditch-Light Mode added in too.

The MP15's I put on the list, because we do need some up to date ones, considering too, that, to my knowledge, DW was the only one to make them.

I see that model uses the old SLI CR SD80MAC unit, I guess I hadn't noticed that the 80's and 90's were a similar design.
Well with that said, maybe I can make a few repaints whenever I get the chance to add to the CP fleet.

They already have flashing ditchlights. If you hit H once, it will have the lights solid, hit H again and the ditch lights flash. Would be great to have in integrated into the horn, as flashing ditchlights usually are, but it's probably something more complex to work with.

One of my pet peeves is that repainters--whose work I do greatly appreciate--still rely too heavily on older models with poor detail, Fred Flintstone wheels, etc. It's sort of like putting a $3K paint job on an old automobile without fixing all the dents and rust.

What is often lacking these days from OR in the way of models is much of the newer locomotives and rebuilds of existing locomotives. There is also a paucity of the various "heritage" units out there. The payware vendors, for whatever reason, seem fixated on producing models of the 60's-80's era these days. I enjoy those models, too, but I wish there would be more current generation stuff out there.

One final note, a lot of repaints don't have much weathering. I like that some repainters will provide both weathered and unweathered textures with their offerings.

While I do understand your point of view on "older models" I want to say, not all current standard models with the perfect round wheels and super detailed whatever, fits every railroad out there. A good example, some of the locomotives I try to represent, have double clasp brake shows on their trucks, while most current models available, do not represent this, so sticking to an older model that does represent this, works for me, whether it has those odd shaped wheels or not.

Modern equipment is essentially what this post was about, newer models such as the SD70ACu series, or the AC4400CWM's for example, as well as many of the current rebuild locomotives such as the GP31 and GP33 ECO units.

Lastly, I get the whole weathered vs unweathered thing. Some folks prefer to have a clean fresh look to most of their locomotive equipment. I may or may not make some small weather attempts on various pieces, but I much prefer the clean look, especially when some railroads today actually still make an attempt to wash their fleet. In the end, there are several paint programs available and folks willing to give technical advice if you ever want to weather or repaint as your heart desires of what you wish to have.

Agree, however, I gotta admit sometimes I just want to run a dirty beat up wreck of diesel, hauling a load of absolutely despicable looking trash gondolas....I may be a little twisted...but it's fun to me. Oh Yeah, add a caboose on the end.

Sounds like you need some clapped out GMTX and LTEX units then.
