    ORTS Rolling Stock wish list

    Hello folks,
I was thinking of creating this thread, maybe spark some interest. I have zero skills when it comes to modeling railcars or engines. If you looked as some of my older work such as the 60' plate C boxcars, I'm not very strong in that side of things. I used TSM for years, want to learn Blender, but don't see myself making much of it, especially when there are some talented folks out there.

    Anyways.

Wishlist for stuff I'd love to eventually see in ORTS.

    EMD MP15AC's

    EMD MP15DC's

    EMD SD70AH-T4's
EMDX 1501 (Tier 4 SD70ACe-T4) On display at the 2015 Railway Interchange

    EMD SD70ACu's

    EMD GP31ECO's.

    Baldwin RF16's

    GE C40-8M's

    EMD GP33ECO's

    PR PR43C's

some items that could possibly get up to date standards.

EMD SD60F's (up to date standards)
Over 1.5 million railroad and train related photographs from all over the US. We also have an interactive railroad Map!

EMD SD40-2F's (up to date standards)

EMD GP60M/B (up to date standards)
ATSF 116 A fine looking ATSF speedster sitting in the BNSF La Crosse yard.

EMD GP30's (This is more of an up to date standard)
ATSF 3280 ATSF 3280 is right at home working up and down Cajon Pass.

There are numerous railcars too that have yet to make an appearance, or so I feel. Maybe somewhere there is one available.

    Gondolas
    NSC 6400cuft:

Over 1.5 million railroad and train related photographs from all over the US. We also have an interactive railroad Map!

    4 Bay Grain/Feed Covered Hoppers
    5791cuft:
Over 1.5 million railroad and train related photographs from all over the US. We also have an interactive railroad Map!

    Plastic Pellet Covered Hoppers
    5810cuft?

If there is something you don't see on this list, feel free to post what you wish for. Again, hopefully with enough interest someone creative could pick up something off the list and work with it. Who knows. We won't know if we don't show interest I suppose.

Great idea, Shawn! Just as an fyi (and you may already know) - TMT has a nice (payware) set of 5 BRIX 4-bay grain hoppers, which also includes 5 3-bay cars.

That, I was actually unaware of, I'll have to check them out, though to be fair, this list was mainly aimed for the ability to also create repaints, which, TT/TMT seems to be against.

Another locomotive model worth adding to the list are General Electric U-Boats. A lot of the models here on the F/L are using John Peterson's ancient model of these locomotives. There is some serious variety in the Universal Series line of locomotives.

I would love to see 4 axle GE Wide cabs in warbonnet colors. For years Santa Fe used these at the head end of their hotshot trains from LA to Chicago. Everybody makes 6 axle units, but 4 axle units don't exist.

Early 6-axle EMDs seem to be rare, as well

1960's-1970's era open bi/tri-level autoracks, as well as TOFC cars/trailers of the same era would be great to see here too.

I recall Trainsimulations had a B40-8W model under the streamlines name. Maybe another unit that could get revisited some day.

I also believe they have an open bi/tri level autorack model, featured under the MILW set I believe.
                https://www.trainsimulations.net/milwtrainset

BLW/ZT has a ton of early EMD motive power for both four and six axles EMD's and Alco's. I believe they have the SD18, SD24, SD26 and SD35 models as well.

It's also a very exclusive club, hard to get into or even a response, but they offer a ton of early GE locomotives in both the U series and C series.

Another car brought to my attention that is a good work horse, is the DIFCO sidedump cars.

In addition, the UP Feather River 1984 addon has a ton of open-top autoracks.

With a bit of work, I think they could be made fully open, but don't quote me on that.

Years ago someone asked if they could use the autoracks and add a FA with autos to them and post them to the library but I can't remember if he did or not.

If someone wants to go wild and make a bunch of either of these in a variety of roadnames I could provide the TS Modeler files.

I personally see the older GE U and Dash-7 series as the biggest opportunities here. Yes, Dieselswest has some excellent models but the exclusivity combined with a restrictive repaint policy makes them rather obsolete for the community as a whole.

                        Paul,
I may take up your offer on the sidedump car. I'm wondering how much trouble it would be to swap out the trucks with roller bearing trucks and make photo texture skins in TSM (I have numerous photos of the CP ones at VTR to work with).

While true, definitely still a good offer to those that can get into the "in" club.

If you use the wayback machine you can get the free Diesels West open Autoracks . The download will only work on the SSW "Cotton Belt" and MILW versions though

There were "dimension issues" with the DW freebie cars. Too tall, iirc.

There's an SD70ACu, but yes could use an NS Repaint. I can't wait for The AC44C6M Units to get other Repaints added. I'd like to see CSXT's CM40-8 &Ms. Sure, someone could Re-do the shape & add an F/A for The Door, but new model could be made. I'd also like to see The CM44AC done( but, can be done same way ). New SD60Es. The one requires an SLi SD60 Shape( as does some ), no longer available, or MLT Mod. Then, The SLi CSXT Gevos done from The Trash-Set's no longer available( just saying, there's Repaints once more but can'tuse as a result ). Those PR43Cs roamed along here through Attalla,Al on The NS AGS North Sub. & Valdosta on The GS&F to stay near a Shop if need be( so I was Told ). Those are all great Ideas.
