    Another GP40-2 project

Started on yet another GP40-2 repaint, this time the ex CSXT exx WM, NBSR GP40-2 6942. I have a couple of options to play with, but not entirely sure which direction to take. I can continue using the BNSF GP40M model from Trainsimulations, and make a freight animation file for the bell location and a couple of other details, as the ditchlights and plow are pretty much on spot. The other option I could do is, completely start fresh with blanking out the textures on the WM GP40-2 from the Chessie Pack from Trainsimulations, however that would require some tweaks for a new plow, and ditchlights added via a freight animation file. Option three, I can wait until TrainSimulations produces CSXT engines that have said features, but that may take longer than it would for me to finish this.

Regardless, this is what I have so far. Just need to finish up some details and remember the brightness/saturation combo I used.. This unit will retain the patched ex CSX paint and rust until it gets sent to Progress Rail sometime next year, to be rebuilt as a GP31ECO.

          I don't do demands. I make what I enjoy.

That said, Maxwell Brisben made the GP38-3 206 and 207 pair, which appears are no longer available.

I've also made the lease sets that are or were found on the VTR, for the GP38-2 series. They can be found here in the library.

I have made these in the past, but never released them as they needed some finishing touches, I never got around to. Never released them, regardless the amount of time and effort put into them, folks on the forum started complaining and putting up a big fuss about the wheels not being "round" enough. Thats why I just do what I like, and release what I feel like releasing, most other times the work gets sent to those that actually appreciate the effort.

Rivet counters and their ilk really pis...I mean annoy... me. I see so many screen shots of stuff I would love to have, but can't get because the best developers here no longer freely share. And I don't blame you. I have hundreds of repaints on my computer that I have never shared because I'm tired of all the flak one gets over the few repaints I did share. Quite frankly, Shawn, your stuff is always "good enough". I wish I could get more of it, but it is what it is. Just keep on doing what makes you happy. I'm glad for anything you choose to share.

BTW, patch jobs are the best.

For those of us who do branch line or shortlines, your stuff is perfect, Shawn. Don't stop.
