    Reskinning TrainSimulations SD45

I've done a couple of reskins using TrainSimulations SD45 from the CSX Rock Runner set. This model was originally reskinned by Michele, to represent PC SD45s. My versions are SCL, ex-SCL Clinchfield, and ex-Clinchfield CSX. I have a couple of questions, and maybe a request for help. The first questions are related to licensing.
    1) What is TrainSimulations' policy of reskinning? Do they allow, or not? If they allow, is it the usual, i.e. don't upload .s files, sound files, etc?
    2) What's the policy related to CSX these days? It used to be you'd have to be licensed by them, but I don't see anything about that. I have seen instances of companies pulling things down (fonts, timetables, etc) after receiving C and D letters, etc.
    3) Assuming these reskins could be released, does anybody have any interest in creating a FreightAnim for the noselight headlight? I got the lighting section fixed so that the mars light works in the SCL units (disabled by design for the CRR unit). But the headlight is just part of the texture, because I don't build 3D models.
I put this off hoping TS would do their own version, since they released the SD45 Vol 1. But these have been done for a while, and that set was also released a while ago now, so I thought I'd ask.

From the site's perspective... feel free to upload when you're ready. We have several reskins on TrainSimulations.net (formerly Streamlines.ca) shapes here. Don't include files for the payware shapes, textures, sounds, or cabviews.

Since our library isn't considered commercial use, the chances of a C&D letter are really slim to none. If hell freezes over and they request it, we'll honor and take it down.
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

Cool, thanks. I thought as much, given that the PC ones were based on TS models. I also saw the other stickies related to various reskinning policies. Just wanted to be sure there was nothing more recent related to TS. Also, thanks for the info on C&D.

So,,,,anybody have any interest in modeling the noselight? This already has a FreightAnim from the Penn Central SD45 pack (File ID 82265). It looks ok with just the texture, but would be better if modeled.

And, with all this being said, I also should be able to put the SD50 reskins up (based off the TS SD60), though they aren't 100% accurate.

Good to see you on here again. I well remember meeting you and your wife back in 2003 in Erwin, TN

Yellowdog, nice work! As Eric said, feel free to release these and the SD50s if you choose. Really, all you need to include is your modified textures and the .eng file, The end user will be able to source the shape, supplemental textures, cab, sounds, etc from the existing folder.

Don't know how much this will help, but if you'd want a nose light part you could probably take the one found in csx8503.zip in the library here (though it would probably need to be modified). You'd probably have to find Chris Wallace if you end up doing that though and not sure if they're still around here.

Good to see you too, Jerry!

Awesome, thanks Andrew! The CSX/ex Clinchfield SD45 and the SD50s are all uploaded. I'll hold off on the Clinchfield and SCL SD45s to see if I get any takers.

Thanks, Unoriginal. Unfortunately that one has other details that wouldn't be correct, and I don't have the skillset to isolate just the noselight itself. The SCL SD45s had cablight housings (for the marslight) and noselight housings (for the headlghts). The FA included in the PC SD45s is pretty close (closer than what's included in 8503). Just need a noselight.

I also uploaded these CSX SD40s in ex Clinchfield livery. These are based off my Clinchfield repaints of Tyler Bundy's SD40 model. There are some model details that aren't correct for the time period these are intended to represent. Click image for larger version

Another project. This is CSX SD40 4601, in SBD paint. Based off Tyler Bundy's original SBD SD40 models. I basically just renumbered and weathered his original model, adding a few CSX-specific details along the way such as various warning signs and American flag. This unit also received YN paint on the nose and rear. I plan to do that version as well, and will upload the model with both versions as skin options. I'm also considering doing 4607.

Still waiting to hear if anyone wants to collaborate on the SCL SD45s, for the noselight housing. If I don't hear by mid-week, I'll just upload them as is.

Loving these early CSXT locomotives. I've been enjoying them on the old MLT Sand patch route. Need to find some other decent CSXT routes to run them on..

I think the western & atlantic route still holds up, as well as your tallahassee upgrade. The monon route could work too.
