Found some routes needed the acleantrack aces change by converting US_Track to them to look decent.

Yep, there's some corruption on that. I'll rebuild and repackage tonight.

These shapes are a total mess, because the TSection geometry is somewhat messed up as well.... they'll need workaround shapes and won't have automated points as a result:
        • dblslip10d
        • dblslip6d
        • sglslip6d
These have more or less correct shapes and will fit, but may be missing the guards and frogs:
        • dblslip10d150r
        • dblslip3d
        • dblslip6_3
        • dblslip7_5d
        • sglslip10d
        • sglslip6_3
        • sglslipcrv7_5pnt1
        • sglslipcrv7_pnt2

        Others that need manual work:
        • stub 3d's fit but the pivots for the rails need to be reversed
        • USBuffer needs a Hayes post added
        • pedestrian crossing needs a crosswalk
        • level crossing needs everything except the tracks...
All in all, nits in the big picture but still pieces that need to be plugged for a complete package.

I'm a bit hesitant to invest too much time and effort on the slips and stubs -- as I recall, the double switch piece that came with MSTS and the definition in the TSection was screwed up if I recall and needed either a replacement or to place four switches at the corners (some variants with with a xover piece in the middle), and that allowed signaling to work.

The other option is for the original MSTS pieces kept in the distribution. Personally, the moving points aren't as important as the overall appearance, but happy to hear what others think.

Poor mapping and 99% of the available ACleanTrack textures either look extremely poor or are just modified from the USTracks textures which makes them pointless if the new tracks are based on USTracks to begin with. I think a significant portion of any 2023 replacement should be to leave 2003 files in 2003 where they belong, but that's just me.

Would I use those? Absolutely not.

But.... we've all seen posts here from folks who might not be able to handle copying textures to a route directory....
I wouldn't worry about it too much. The user who can't handle copying textures to a route directory is typically also the user who will download both sets of shapes and try to install them on top of each other (or, more likely, place them in the trainset or My Documents folder without reading the directions). In either case, if the installation also places a set of textures in the global/textures directory, then the sim should fall back to those "default" textures when there are no textures in the route folder. That's a much simpler solution all around.

I have followed this topic with great pleasure. I am absolutely delighted that Norbert's work is being continued or reorganised on his basis.
With the release for all users, I have downloaded and reviewed the Testing - Default Trackshapes.
The first thing I notice is that none of the shapes are compressed. This results in a download size of 303 MB. Compressed it would be 178MB. The global folder has 5.9 GB, compressed 168 MB.
When looking through the shapes, I noticed that the shapes a1t0_2mstrt.s, a1t0_3mstrt.s and a1t10mstrt.s are designed as tunnel shapes. This is of course not correct. I then gave up the further review because I got stuck on the tunnelshapes. There is the following error: the rails in the tunnel light up.

For comparison, here is a tunnel shape from Norbert, which also uses a separate tunnel texture for the rails.

I wish you every success with the further construction and thank you very much for your hard work.
I would also like to point out that after completion of the package for the textures of Norbert the following note will be included in the readme.

The package available yesterday and earlier this week had some incorrect profiles applied to some shapes (e.g. tunnels on shapes that shouldn't have had them) and those have now been replaced.

There will be a final polishing which includes compressing the shapefiles. Some of these are going to be quite large in comparison to 2001 standards.

I noticed also that a1t100mstrtwtr.s, which is the track section with water pans, does not display any water.

Yes, the water troughs need to be added as well. Fortunately, that's an easy addition like the pedestrian crossing.

There are plenty of concrete textures available if you want to switch out the wood texture.

I think I have a schematic for concrete crossing surfaces if it helps with the crossing shapes. You can also use my texture from my crossing surface set if it helps. It would probably work for the pedestrian crossing, as well, using a single 8' panel

You do realize this is a testing set, right? Not everything is done yet, and the USBuffer/Hayes post was already noted on the previous page.

The track looks great so far, thank you for all the hard work. I do have a couple of quick questions to make sure I am doing this correctly.

I have followed the read me on this. Installed what I need to in the Global.

-When I get to the track profiles, do I install that in each route folder? The reason I ask is that when the Dynamic track still retains the old textures.

-Would it be better to move this away from the MSTS installation altogether?

I have considered moving out of the MSTS installation and creating a separate directory.

                              Hi,

There is a project underway that will be released hopefully later this year.

We ended up having to create some custom track for this project.

                              These shapes are

                              A1t75r20d.s

                              A2t60r20d.s

                              A2t75r20d.s

I'll be hopefully releasing a update to Xtracks and a new Tsection.dat later this year. My last update to Xtracks brought the package to V3.21. The next update will be V3.22.

                              Thanks.

Once you have installed the files, ( Back-up your Gobal folder ) you see something like this:
Click image for larger version Name:	grab9-071.jpg Views:	0 Size:	1.9 KB ID:	2293218
                                Inside that folder you have:
Click image for larger version Name:	grab9-072.jpg Views:	0 Size:	6.1 KB ID:	2293219
Copy and past GLOBAL into you existing Gobal folder and replace all when asked.

In the "yourRoute" folder you will see:
Click image for larger version Name:	grab9-073.jpg Views:	0 Size:	3.4 KB ID:	2293220
TRACKPROFILES must be copied into the root directory of each route to get Dynamic Tracks to show the right textures.
The "textures" folder and "ContibutedTexture" are for you to choose how your tack will look. Might need to rename textures, "US_Track3" is for ballast and "US_Track3s " is for ties so you can mix and match as you want.

This is as far as I've gotten.
