Hello everyone. I am trying to make an Indian Railways WAP5 locomotive to be like one of it's 'parent ' locomotives (SBB Re 460/BLS Re 465 or DB class 120) and hence, I need to make a tractive effort curve for an electric locomotive (BLS Re 465) using this available data - Maximum horsepower (9390 hp), continuous horsepower (8410 hp), Starting tractive effort at full power (320 kN), continuous Tractive Effort at full power (242 kN at 92 km/h), Locomotive weight (84 tons) and top speed (200 to 230 km/h). So, this curve has to be power output (throttle power from 0 to 1) and speed dependent. I am attaching a Tractive Effort curve file of a WAP5 locomotive, a WAP7 locomotive and my modified data (for 100% throttle) to this thread. I have also tested the equation TE = 2650 * nP/v (where P is in horsepower, v is in km/h and n is locomotive efficiency (from 0 to 1)) which I found in an old thread here (about 6 years old). The TE I got from this did not seem to match most of the figures of WAP7 and WAP5 in their TE curves, especially at lower speeds. (the speeds are in m/s and I converted them into km/h for the calculations).
These files are from locomotives made by Hamza Paghdiwala of BGPro Productions and I do not take credit for them. I am intending to make these changes for my personal use to try and simulate how much benefit a 'super powered ' WAP5 locomotive would have on long, heavy Indian passenger trains.
PS - I am also having issues with understanding adhesion friction file as to which value goes where and how do I obtain them for an Re 465?
I have been stumped on this for days now and I know that most of these must be actually very stupid questions but I have been out of touch with doing Physics problems for a long while now and the ORTS manual did not help with its complicated jargon.
