    Containers

I got back onto this kick again.

Last year, I took a bunch of photos of the various containers that we hauled on the EMR/NBSR. Mixture of Hapag-Llyod, UASC, Triton, TEX, Gold, and several others. Originally I had planted these textures onto the TrainSimulations container sets found in their various packages. Ultimately, I had mixed feelings. Happy to have them, but not happy how they came out.

These containers are all actually 9'6" in their height department, so they match the CPKC/CP and former EMP domestic containers we haul, in height. So today, I opened up TSM, and built my own containers to go on these well cars, and match what I have already done for the paint work.

Couple of comparison shots. The new 9'6" containers, next to the original, what I believe is supposed to be 8'6" containers, though they appear pretty short., and then next to the domestic containers from TS.

I am using the well cars from the MRL Mullan Pass and Scenic Sub routes as my base, same with the original container textures, with of course, my own photo repaints. I haven't looked at anything from the Shasta Route, to see if the containers on that are 8'6" or 9'6", so hopefully I am not wasting too much time with this adventure.

Nice results. Have you considered taking a dive in Blender vs TSM?.
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

I have tried to attempt Blender, and in my honest opinion, it's way too complicated, for a simple shape such as these containers.

However, Thanks! I'm still tweaking the texture work, to better mix and match like TS has done. So I may end up with two various sets, and I will attempt some single stacks as well. Same with 53' domestic containers for CP, CPKC, and the ex EMP ones.

Okay, here we go with the mix and match of containers, both single, and double stacks. Eventually I will place these with two different BNSF five packs, and two different DTTX five packs. Once these are all set, I will then turn to mixing and matching single and double for both BNSF and DTTX three packs.

Sadly, 20' containers will be out of the question, as those are always bottom loaded, so I can never get good side shots of those, and the 53' containers will be limited as well, as those often come in single stacked, so I cannot get decent side shots of those either.

I have some photos of 40' reefer containers as well, but those will be another story..

              Thanks Tim,
Testing them in ORTS itself, with additional numbers to the well cars. I'll probably throw in two more BNSF number series, to have a mix and match of singles and doubles, Then moving onto the DTTX sets.

If you are still on a kick... I also did a collection of logos of shipping companies as a font.

I've actually used that font for some of the ends on these container repaints I've done. The sides are from my own photos, the ends are from my own photos as well, solid gray container I got lucky to see with no logos. Adjusted the colors as needed for each, and used your font for the logos.

Decided to make a quick video, with DTTX and BNSF wells, and the several combinations I have made up for this set.

Apparently I cannot figure out how to properly embed the link, even with the "YOUTUBE" feature on this forum.. so whatever.

                    Here is the link....

Slowly plugging away at the different 3 packs now, which will feature a mixture of 40 footers, 40 and 53 footers, and simply 53 footers.

Okay, got the 3 packs all set and going. I think that will wrap up this package for now before I burn myself out on it. I still have plenty of pictures to work with, so additional shapes and sets will more than likely be seen in the future.

The best part, all containers in this package will be set up as freight animation, so the end user can mix and match as they desire, without going into major changes. The future containers I release, will be simply that, just the shapes, and maybe a couple more well cars, but it will be the CMA-CGM package, and reefers that will be my next project.

Sometimes, I feel like I am talking to myself.

Anyways, this package has reached 155mb's uncompressed, so I think I will wrap it up as is. Currently it's been sent off to the beta testers, and I hope to release it soon. Any additional cars and containers will come at a later date, where I would like to add in some reefer cars and use a few more that didn't get heavily used in this set, such as the UASC container. I think that made one appearance on the many well cars.

This set will include six 3-pack wells for AOK, BNSF, and DTTX, as well at sixteen 5-pack wells for BNSF, CN, and DTTX. With a mix of 40-foot containers custom made for the Hapag-Lloyd fleet of, Hapag-Lloyd, Dong Fang, UASC, TEX, NYK Logistics, Gold, and Triton. 40-foot containers custom made for the CMA-CGM fleet of CMA-CGM, Beacon, Trouax, Seaco, HMM, and Flores. As well as 53-foot containers custom made for the CPKC fleet of CP. (Haven't had luck getting any good photos of the ex EMP containers, Bison Containers, or Midland Containers, or even the CPKC containers.)

The future release or add-on, to this add-on, I would like to try and get some reefer containers, as well as hopefully a few more domestics as mentioned above. I have a bunch of reefer photos for CMA-CGM, Tex, APL, Triton, SeaCube, Flores, Hapag-Lloyd, and UASC. I also have a bunch of other photos for regular 40' containers for UASC, and Hapag-Lloyd that I'd love to try and toss in the mix, as sometimes there is a 3 or 5 pack that has a solid set of either or just both mixed together.
