    Whatever's Locomotive Reskins

As the name of the thread says, this is where I post my renumbering reskins of certain locomotives with specific numbers.

The first locomotive in the post is DRGW SD40T-2 No. 5345, this is my first renumber reskin I did and exported on my own, the model is from Train Simulations (Streamlines)' DRGW SD40T-2 No. 5364 from the Green River route, with the Green River DRGW SD40T-2 engine upgrade from Pete Abrams and Jeff Auberpine applied. I don't have any plans on releasing it into the file library.

While it's not the first locomotive I ever did a renumber reskin, that goes to the ATSF B40-8W set that I did with the help of Unoriginal on exporting the texture files, thank you Unoriginal for assisting me there, while I wasn't able to get TGATool2A and AceIt to fully work in exporting Ace files until now.

I did DRGW 5345 because I got some inspiration on wanting to make it's appearance in Open Rails after watching C Vision Productions' Railroad Film; Denver & Rio Grande Western Vol. 2 where in the timestamp 47:58, the locomotive made its appearance, and I'm glad that I did DRGW 5345.

Overall, I will post some more stuff here once I some other things sorted out, I got some plans on doing the additional DRGW GP30s.

Feedback and constructive criticism are welcomed here, and I need to figure out on finding the number fonts that either matches or is close enough to the DRGW number fonts, I need some more practice in doing reskins for Open Rails, I'm still a newbie at it.

    Will you make DRGW 3011?

I will see about that perhaps, I could do DRGW 5371 and DRGW 5401, both of them are preserved, and since I'm able to export Ace files on my own without relying on Unoriginal export them for me, as he's got other things to attend to in his personal life, which is understandable.

Nice work! Have you looked at Pete Willard's sets of RR fonts and graphics at http://www.railsimstuff.com/fonts1.php to see if he has what you need? He's got some great sets there that are very helpful and are free.

I did, I wasn't sure on putting them how I like to, as in making them fit with the locomotive and paint I'm reskinning, something about fiddling with the railroad roman number fonts.

Also, I do appreciate the compliment as well.

I'm going to try creating both of the SD40T-2s with Pete's SP Roman Font, I will try to modify the "4" to match the cab side number on DRGW 5401.

Here's my result, it looks good I think, now... the next part is trying to patch out the current numbers on the base texture..

Update: I stopped working on the blanking the numbers for now, I will come to it later, I will post some photos of DRGW 5345 in action.

And it's done but I'm still far ahead from finishing the number patching, not to mention, I have to do the other side of the cab as well...

I will admit, I'm taking my slowest time in patching out the numbers, maybe I'm just slacking with what I'm doing? Who knows.

But once I'm done doing DRGW SD40T-2s No. 5371 and No. 5401, then I will do the two DRGW GP30s or more, but time will tell.

If you need variations on fonts I've done... I can always make a custom solution.

Hi Pete, I appreciate that since I would like to have some DRGW Roman Number fonts for my DRGW reskins.

In the meantime, I need to come back into doing the projects (while trying to get myself to do something).

                        Here is a test font...

                        RioDiesel-Regular.zip

Just give me feedback if you need adjustments...

Thanks! I will install em later, once I will boot up the laptop.

Edit: I installed the fonts now, I will start testing them once I get back into reskinning.

I tried to blank out the cab side numbers differently, I don't know how the results turn out, it looks decent but I'm thinking it needs more work.

Also, I did try out Pwillard's DRGW Roman Numbers font (thanks for the fonts, Pete), I did adjust their size to match the numbers on the base texture itself.

I will stop there for now, but in the meantime... I may continue work in a W.I.P read me file for the additional DRGW locos, if I plan on releasing them into the file library.

ID:	2305330 It's not the final version of the read me file, I know I will add in more stuff, I should mention that I use the engine upgrades for the DRGW SD40T-2 and GP30 made by other people, I will leave the text file as it is for now.
