    A Nickel Plated Project.

Hello Everyone, this is my first forum post on this site and I want to give a short introduction to myself. My Name is Maxwell, I'm a volunteer on the NKP 765, And I'm learning content creation for ORTS.

I want to make content in a Demand Manor, so I have a question for you, the reader.
Would you like a new Lima Berkshire in ORTS?

I Have lots of resources, and this has been a long-time project idea of mine.
I'd like to know what you guys would like to see be made into ORTS, So I can help fill the content gaps.

    Thanks, Max.

Sounds like a daunting first project. Good luck. Several folks active here who work with steam modeling and can offer suggestions as needed.
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

Personally, as a word of advice when it comes to modelling, don't be afraid to over-model details. Open Rails has a more powerful graphics engine than people give it credit for, especially if you have a fairly modern gaming PC. I've played around with extremely high poly models intended for Trainz (FOR PERSONAL PRIVATE USE!!) with no implemented LODs, and Open Rails has brushed off everything and anything I've thrown at it with flying colors and 60FPS.

I concur with this statement above. This has been my experience as well.

I would suggest that you build the model that you want to build. This will help motivate you to persist and overcome hurdles and make the successes sweeter.

Don't put pressure on yourself to complete it in some time frame. Work on the model when you want to, not because you feel you have to. The more fun it is for you, the more time you will spend working on it and ultimately progressing development.

          All the best.

          Cheers,

          Marek.
