    MS Project Thread

    Hey.

I've recently been dabbling in the "dark arts" of retexturing. Or... more aptly, how to. This thread serves as a way to showcase whatever I've been working on for OpenRails in my free time.

Starting things off (in more ways than one) I've taken to retexturing the NAVS 40ft "PS-Style" boxcars into the fictional Canton Railroad. Thankfully, it's not my first retexture (in fact, it's my third!). Originally, I was going to keep these for myself, but once I retexture a few more, I'll consider making a small pack of Canton lettered cars.

    Nicely staged.
If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

Nice to see a classic fictional railroad see the light again.

Foobie Illinois Central 100-Ton hoppers. Pay no mind to the missing 4th chute. Wanting to cover all the bases possible, I attempted to depict four different liveries. Those being the 1968 Split Rail, 1972 ICG, plus two repainted variations of both. While I was working on these, I took a slight detour and tried my hand at some rust. I liked the look enough that I'll likely include it was an alternate texture sheet for end-users to swap out themselves. The bottom two images show the alternate, rusted variation.

Unfortunately for me, I wasn't aware that there were quad door hoppers. Fortunately, it means that with a few adjustments, I can easily refit the lettering and weathering to the more accurate model. Same points apply to the previous one: Four liveries, and an alternate "rusted" texture. However, now each car only has two number variations. Once I go through them with a fine-toothed comb, they should be up on the library shortly.

Always did like the IC Split rail logo. Looks great on those hoppers.

Really digging the Canton cars. Dick's approach heavily inspired the "kit" ideology behind my current cars and locomotives, right down to the simple fictional base textures.
