Well, I'm working on Lighting (just the outdoor lamps) and LOD item for distance impact at the moment... so its coming along... at my predictably S L O W pace. Its a shame that scenery lighting is not really a thing.

That looks so real, so nicely detailed. As well, looks like it could be dropped into an HO layout. Great job!

Awesome work Pete! I may need some paper mill buildings for the one in Westbrook.

Did I ever mention I was born in the hospital right next to the papermill in Westbrook?

Anyway if there is anyone that wants to critique it or try it out, I made it available at my mostly ignored github location:

Replacements for MSTS default shapes. Contribute to pwillard/MSTS-replacement development by creating an account on GitHub.

I'm really not a route builder so if I get some feedback that is positive, I'll upload it to the library. If it needs some fixing, I can do that too.

Note: I think I might have missed an outside light texture.

Slightly bigger than what the warehouse is in reality, but a great fill in. I simply extended one unit into three to create the feel of the real warehouse at this location.

That AT&T building would be a great one to start filling in the Portland/South Portland area.

Pretty neat to be born not too far from the old paper mill in Westbrook. A shame it is hardly doing much these days. Doesn't even get rail service anymore.

Another great building! I like the well known logo on the side of the building.

A number of years back I was inside a few of these communications buildings They are usually unmanned, except or a single security gard at the door. Also, they have no windows at all. That is supposed to make them bomb proof.

Shawn, I never thought about merging multiples to make a larger version... did that work out ok or does it need some tweaks?

Also, I noticed that the light over bay 2 is dark... and it shouldn't be. (no, I did not do night textures for this one)

The AT&T Building is based on the one in Framingham Ma (near where I used to live), along the former Boston Albany/NYC/Conrail mainline. And yeah, it has 3 windows, well off the ground level.

I originally did the AT&T/NYNEX building model for Trainz, so Its just a matter of exporting as an S file... I think. Its not like its that complex of a model... it's just a larger than average and a rather uncommon building I was reminded of while using Google Earth.

                    ===

Anyway, the AT&T Switching facility is up there at the GitHub location as well.

Also note, for now I include the PSD file with a bajillion layers incase someone want to strip out the logo or something or if you actually use Affinity Designer (and you should) , you can see how I make textures. Exporting to PSD maintains layers, but sort of kills some of the easy referencing I get with Designer.

Note: I'm sharing the Blender masters as well... I see no benefit these only being on my local storage hoarded away from the community.

Note #2: I know I originally intended to use the GITHUB repository as a holder for my MSTS object replacement work... but I'm really just using it to create new ORTS scenery... Oh well, consider it to be feature creep.

Pete, it actually worked out great bumping the objects together in three parts to make a larger sized warehouse. Only difference is, the one end closer to the main road is more of an office area of sorts. I believe either XPO or FedEx currently uses this facility, but I'm doing what I can to give it the 1978-1981 feel.
Night textures would be neat on this warehouse, especially with the amount of lights.

Just wish they could give off a cone of light like the lead locomotive does. Maybe some day..

Looking forward to what you have to offer. That AT&T building I may be able to tweak and use as a fill in for the hospital on top of the hill in Portland, considering it appears to be just as massive.

This has been my wish since day 1. If it requires a new Graphics Engine, so be it.

                          Pete,

The ATT-NYNEX Switch building is superb. I been looking for such a building for the Blue Comet Route 1965-1976 route I am doing. There are 6 phone switching station within track view between Perth Amboy and Jersey City on the route.

Plus it works great for the ATT Long Lines building for Ocan Gate. The ATT center there was a high-frequency (shortwave) radio transmitting station providing telephone communications to ships at sea (high-seas service) and to overseas locations, under callsign WOO. It was there since the mid 1950's and was decommissioned in 1999. So this building is perfect.

                          Thanks for you art!

Building looks great. Is the yellow/black sign "Move On Green Only" supposed to be reversed on the bottom?

Hang on, I seem to recall that was so it was readable when truckers are backing in... You often see both normal and reversed as far as I know (not a trucker)
