I keep trying to remember that I want to update my B40 from 2002.

I'm actually quite embarrassed by it... the trucks are especially sad so they will need to be built 100% over again.

I got a bunch of Pan Am units waiting to be painted.
    Nice work so far Pete!

      More old GE's.

      Heck Yeah!

Any chance of a NS B32-8?

      Thanks Pete.

        Hi Pete,

        Look'n good - sir.

Do we have an old GE sound set that would do it justice?

        Regards,
        Scott

I have no idea about sound, back in 2002, I aliased the sounds to default available sounds... probably a GP38

I would love an updated B39-8E LMX loco. I loved seeing those back in the late '80's and 90's on the BNSF in Wyoming and Montana. I saw them years later, much worn, in other lease and shortline use.

The old GE FDL soundset from Anthony Wood (MLW) has held up fairly well. It's in the file library.

Wouldn't mind a nice B-8 model! I've got OR enhanced physics for the entire Dash 8 lineup should ya want to go beyond boring old MSTS physics.

How hard would it be to change this from a Dash 8 series to a U-series? To my untrained eye, they seem to share a lot of similarities shape wise and I'd LOVE to have a few U36B and U36C's to paint into SCL colors.

Well, it was my *first* loco model and I was barely able to make 3D Canvas do what I wanted. It needs a re-do. I did work on a BCRAIL B39 Variant but never released it. Essentially, I found the old 3D Canvas model on a hard drive back up and was a bit shocked at the shortcuts I took to make it happen.

Any physics available are welcomed as that is not my thing.

As for sounds 'GE FDL soundset from Anthony Wood (MLW) ' I'll look into that as well

But... its way to early to talk about either at the moment. I still need to do all the texture mapping.

Not sure if I will try to re-use my old texture maps or maybe try to follow a known layout from maybe Danny Beck or similar. The first release I plan is for a Conrail scheme.

Not sure where I want the ditch lights. Eastern roads tend to put them on the deck (IE Conrail) though BNSF seems to place them under the deck. I guess it won't be BNSF friendly.

I've used rf_u33b_sound.zip and rf_u23b_sound.zip by Ron Furto.
I like the burble better than the others.
                      They just sound more GEish.

                        Hi Folks,

Just an FYI - some museum in Illinois (I think) - does load testing on some old GE's and posts videos on YT - I'm not a sound a guy - but - I thought it would be a source for a sound file. I don't know if it would be a good fit for this particular model, but they do run through all the power settings.

                        Regards,

Something is better than nothing. The original from 2003 was aliased to the default DASH9 sounds.

I did almost none of the *work* on the ENG file as the lights and Physics were done by other people who kindly helped out.

That would be the Illinois Railroad Museum to which I might have a contact for and it's only about a 45 minute drive. I would just need proper recording equipment!

                              Hi Kevin,

That sounds great if you could get it - I was just thinking of trying to rip audio from the existing videos with a program like "Audacity". Your way would be better. I think only a very few of us - not me - are skilled at making actual sound files.
