    Long Island RR route

Does anyone know if Vince Cockeram is going to finish or is progressing with any addition to his Long Island Rail Road route???? He created the west end of the system, LI City to around Mineola / Freeport, but have yet to see after all these years any additions or modification to the original file. It is a shame to let it go unfinished to those of us who know and use the LIRR

Hope he is still around and in good health to continue his work.....but COVID caused a lot of damage 5-6 years ago already

Thanks for any information or updates

Was wondering about the route too. It's a really nice route even if it's a beta (IIRC). Did a few private mods a long time ago such as adding more era appropriate automobiles and trucks.

Hopefully we'll see some good activities, preferably once the route has working signals.

        Hi Kyle,

If you have the Activity Generator ( AG) software to create your own activities, I have created a template package for the route a few years ago, although it is non signalled.

Here's the link to see the project and many images from activities created by AG.

          Hello Denis:

Very nice screen shots of your work with the Activity Generator on Vince's LIRR route. Only thing is, having lived on the LIRR route many years...........
          1) Cabooses would have started changing over from tuscan red to all orange with bill board lettering by 1962............a number of engines painted orange & grey earlier than then before Dash Dan was adopted
          2) The H-16-44 diesels DID NOT have an orange sill stripe....never appeared with that on real locos.
          3) The GE 25 ton engines NEVER went out on the railroad....they were SHOP YARD SWITCHERS AT MORRIS PARK and were never capable of being used in road service.
          4) The 25 toners were numbered 398 and 399..........the 397 was bought second hand in the MTA era closer to year 2000. Original two were solid orange with black underbodies
          5) The LI passenger stock (MU and diesel cars) have many incorrect numbers for the types of cars. I contacted Rick Lamp about this years ago and correcting it, but he wanted to hear nothing about it
          6) The Alco RS-1 diesels by the orange & grey Goodfellow era did not have the large sheet metal numbers over the radiator grills...those had been removed by that era. When used in the Tichy scheme, the ends would not be orange but light grey and the pilots below the walkway would be red.

Wish you success and hope that Vince will add the signals to bring up the usability of the route he has completed
