Ready for download: Argentina Trasandinean Railway

Experience the thrill of driving along one of the world’s most dangerous yet breathtaking railways.

I am excited to announce a new downloadable route featuring the 570 km Argentine section of the Northern Trasandinean Railway, stretching from the city of Salta to the Chilean border at the Socompa Pass. This route includes the C14 branch of the Ferrocarril Belgrano, where the famous “Train to the Clouds” operates.
This railway line overcomes significant geographical and climatic challenges, ascending from 1,187 meters above sea level in Salta to a stunning peak of 4,475 meters.
For more insight, check out this informative documentary in English about this beautiful scenic railway

The route is divided into two parts: the photographic terrain textures (14 GB) and the rest of the route.

You can access the links here:

Please note that the route requires VMTracks and Newroads. You can find VMTracks available here:

      Pretty Spectacular!

I can see that a lot of work has been done on this route. Congratulations! Screenshots taken here about 30-40 kilometers West of Salta, the Eastern end of the route. Click image for larger version Name:	West of Salta (Ruta_C14).jpg Views:	0 Size:	201.8 KB ID:	2314403

Also ran East of the Socompa Pass and some sections reminded me of the high plateau of the FCCA (Peruvian Railways) rail line Eastbound (towards Ticlio) approaching Galera Station, which is the summit at around 4,780 meters high (more that 15,000 feet)

Thanks for the route. Are activities included? Is the stock available somewhere?

There are two tasks that are included. "Pruebas.act" und "Turistico a las nubes.act"

The BC_gt22_9702 and the FCGB_gt22 vehicle folder are supplied.

However, the player Train with Consist “Mixto Salteno.con” is missing for Pruebas.act. In the ReadMe there is a download list for the other rolling stock. But I think I have installed all of it. Where can I get the missing Consist?

On the first trip with “Turistico a las nubes.act” I noticed that a signal is only displayed very briefly. In this shape “senalAo_A_o.s” the Lod distance is set to 0, so that it is only displayed in the immediate vicinity. Changed to 2000 it is now displayed correctly.

Unfortunately, there are even more objects that suddenly disappear. Presumably more shapes are affected.

          Thanks, Jan

Looks like a great route. I have been sent, but cannot further distribute, a number of routes from Brazil, some of which I was familiar with, having worked on the signal design around 10 years ago when I worked for signal contractor. Those were great too. Could we have the download instructions in English though, please. My Argentine language skills are zip.

Hi, the activities were created for test purposes, they were not tested and consists are not provided, if the messages are annoying, please delete the content of the subfolders \ACTIVITIES and \SERVICES. Unfortunately I gave up with the activities since I've noticed some possible bugs in OpenRails related with signals.

The objects were created with gmax, the LOD distance is normally set to 2000 but I am facing some bug that exports the shapes with LOD distance 0. I am trying to fix it by editing the shapes manually.

Forthermore, the route contains a README.pdf file with information in english. To see the web page with the links in english, please go to translate.google.com and paste the address "https://rieles-virtuales-2019.blogspot.com/2024/10/ruta-fcgb-ramal-c14.html" on the left box, set the translation from Spanish to English and then click on the link that appears in the right sided box.

The decoration flaws of the route are being fixed, a patch containing the corrections can be downloaded from here, this patch is updated every week when some fix is applied:

That's unfortunate Andres. A large and apparently very well created, activity, is not of interest to a lot of people, including me, without activities and the associated stock!

I don't like being negative but I have to agree. Great route, shame about the acts.

When I acquire a new route, no matter if it has activities included or not, I usually go into TrackViewer and create some paths to use to explore the entire route. Creating those paths is not difficult at all. Then I can use a consist of my choice in the Explore mode of OR to explore the route. If I like what I see, then I can proceed to acquiring activities or making my own to enjoy the route. The only limitation to some routes is if the track is not standard gauge. One then has to acquire at least a locomotive of the proper gauge to do the exploring. If I find the route to be uninteresting when I explore it, then I don't have to waste any more time trying to acquire stock, activities, etc. I just "scrap" the route and move on to something else.

When you download the route, there is a appropriate redme file in english with appropriate links to appropriate stock for appropriate route.
There is even more appropriate stock on those websites, then those 2 activities needs for appropriate run.
Paths and services are included. With very little effort you can make your own activity using those already included files.

I want to thank author for this amazing route. This was a surprise for sure.

Much love, Have a good day everyone 😎

The only site I know that has it is trensim.com.
