    Conrail Montreal Secondary

Not really Conrail, just some north woods ONR route standing in. A good old fashioned freight train from the black-n-blue days before graffiti and high cubes.

I remember seeing one of those black painted out U25B units in Sandwich Massachusetts (Cape Cod route) in 1976. Looks good there.
Is that Diesels West? I don't recall those existing.

One Sunday morning a friend and I were heading to Rutland VT to railfan the VTR. We stopped in Massena to check out Conrail, there were no vehicles in the parking lot so we thought it would be safe to take some shots of the power stored behind the station. Took a couple of shots when a Conrail pickup truck came in and right to us. Turned out to be the Train Master who we had heard for years eat railfans for breakfast. He introduced himself and asked what were were doing, told him we just stopped on our way to VT and he ended up taking us up in the GP-38, running us up and down the length of the siding. Said we'd probably want to take a few shots inside the cab, when we were finished, come up to his office in the station. He unloaded about 30 pounds of old paperwork from his filing cabinet on us, and wished us a safe trip. Also gave us his business cars just in case customs wanted proof where we got the papers.

I also have shots of the Norwood and St Lawrence, and the North Country, both shortlines out of Ogdensburg that connected to Conrail if you'd like them posted.
