TSRE consist builder closes after selecing route or consist

Installed TSRE Consist Builder. Ran the batch file. Selected my train simulator folder (C:\Train Simulator) Selected route. Selected Load. TSRE CLOSES. Gone, missing. Selected consists same results. Windows 11 up to date. OR version 1.5.1. All current activities I have run fine on all routes in OR.

What am I doing wrong here?

Which version of TSRE? There should still be a logfile in the TSRE directory if it started up.

There will be a log file in the same folder where TSRE is.
The last line will usually tell you what it didn't like.

When TSRE opens it goes to C:/train simulator. (Note the forward slash) My actual Train sim is C:\Train Simulator. Note capital first letters and correct \slash on correct folder. I see on the log F:/trainsimulator/trains. I do not have any F drives on this computer. I have C:\ which is an SSD. and a regular standard hard drive which has my backups on it.It shows as Data (D). The "settings" text in the TSRE folder show. c:/train simulator. I tried reloading with the correct Train Sim folder but the program still opens with a folder that does not exist. Perhaps I should delete TSRE and download and install it again?
Thus, somehow apparently, the whole path is incorrect.

That's possibly an old version....

There's a 7.012 that was available from Goku's website, and I've made some changes with v8.004 available here in the library.

The top bar of the application should show the version, and I've been adding it in the logfile on the newer version.

For troubleshooting:

Look in the same directory as in your "settings.txt" file and see if there's a file called "cerecent.txt"

If there is, delete it. TSRE will recreate it.

Deleted old version. Downloaded v 8.004. Open consist editor. Opens with the correct path. At bottom lists # of consists and rolling stock, Click green load bar. Program exits.One time the program opened with a list of my routes. Selected a route and program closed

There are a lot of activities already on the route as you can see. I don't know exactly what this log is telling me. The list of routes only appeared one time and now I get just as above

Have you tried Slippermans actman on the route to see what is outputs?

You have it in program files(x86). That might be your problem? Install it to C:/

When I run the ConEditor ( batch file ) for TSRE I always see this line in the log -- somewhere near the top >>> [I] Run con editor

I do not see any indication that the Con Editor Batch file is running....looks like Dave is starting the actual route editor -- and for some reason, it is crashing.

The log shows the TDB being loaded, and other files associated with the route editor, I don't believe the ConEd batch file loads these.

At the top of my Consist Editor logfile, I see:

Dave, when you run the consist editor, you have to do it from the batch file.

For v8.004, it should be

start TSRE5v0.8004.exe --conedit

If you have a different TSRE executable, use that EXE's name with "--conedit" after it.

Also, in the settings file, set "debugOutput = true"

I have been running it from the icon on the desktop. It stuck itself in Program files. I can move it to C:\. Will open the folder and run from the bat file and see if that works. I did run the batch file before.

Check the properties of the desktop icon....it should list the path to the ConEditor.bat as the target

As the Train sim is located in C:\Train Simulator should I reinstall using the C:\Train Simulator path or can I just movet he whole folder into Train Simulator and edit the target to the correct path?

Should not need to do that. I run mine from a completely different drive.ORTS is on E drive. Coneditor shortcut from desktop is L:\TSRE\TSRE-TS\ConsistEditor.bat

Might want to make sure the batch content is correct. May also need to Run as Administrator.
