I have decided to go back into route building thanks to this marvelous editor, but there is one problem that I have. As shown below the TDB lines branch off in a different direction than the tracks themselves. Even after some rotating (and of course pressing Z before and after each one) the lines don't move. What could have caused this?

One rule that must be followed:
+++ NEVER EVER MOVE A TRACK THAT HAS THE YELLOW TDB LINES SHOWING +++
This rule also applies to roads!
If you mistakenly do move a track with lines showing !! STOP !! and immediately delete the track section making sure the yellow lines also are gone.
If you install / save or just do a save before you delete the bad one you are screwed!
If the yellow lines remain, you have corrupted your Track Database. ( Commonly known as an 'Out of Sync' condition)
I don't know at this time how you would fix that problem so please be careful.
As always, backups are very important.
The Out of Sync Condition can be defined as follows:
Where the World File Location of a Track/Road does NOT exactly match it's location in the Track Database.

Let me describe how this happened and believe it or not, this is truly unusual.
1. I press CTRL+Q to disable automatic TDB additions with each new track placement.
2. I place the desired track.
3. I press E and then click on the sky. No yellow TDB lines show up.
4. I put in the position and rotations that I want for the track shape. It's been going fine so far but then...
5. I press Z and the yellow TDB lines show up going in a different direction from the shape itself.
This is proof that I didn't rotate it while this track was in the TDB. This is also why I can't wait for the release of Automatic Route Builder's automatic track-placing tools, since it will finally make possible in just seconds that Michigan mega-route I've been thinking of doing for quite a while now (though it will actually continue west to Chicago, where you can continue in other directions on any of the other separately released routes that also have endpoints in Chicago; and east to London, Ontario, where you can continue east onto MLT's separately released Niagara Corridor).Last edited by amtrakmattburb; 08-07-2017, 19:48.

Sorry, but your narrative doesn't prove anything. The picture speaks for itself no matter what you think was the sequence of events you performed, you obviously did not notice the TDB lines present when you moved the track.
Also you have obviously left out a step after step 3. where you click on the sky which de-selects the track!
You MUST have done this in order to perform step 4.
You had to SELECT the track again where you say you enter the rotation because the rotation and or the Transform panel are NOT present until a track is selected.[/B]
+++ If you happened to have ANYTHING selected, object or terrain, then the CTRL + Q will not activate. +++
I found this out the hard way just as you have.
Anytime I activate 'No Auto TDB Add' via the Ctrl + Q command, I check by select / deselecting the track section a couple of times to be sure no TDB lines appear and only then go on with my editing.
1. Always Tap the 'E' key or Select Button before selecting with the mouse.
2. Be sure nothing selected when setting controls like the no auto tdb.
3. Be careful when entering gradients manually on a reversed (flipped) track.
There is a bug there as you will soon see.
Example:
place curve attaching to a previously placed track section.
Now flip the track to curve to the right.
now try entering in the % line 1.50 . . . . Uh oh! . . . .
With EACH entry in the line the track moves . . .1 track moves up, '.' track up moves again, 5 moves up again, 0 moves up a lot! Ouch!
Works fine if track not flipped . . . . I must remember to tell Goku about this . . . Fails no matter if entered in any of the gradient panel lines.

Yes, lets cull this thread of unnecessary discussions and perhaps move the tips and suggestions to a proper forum.
Leave this thread for Goku and any announcements he may have, similar to the way it's set up at ET.
