Thanks for playing, folks. Multiple warning signals ignored, game over.

Complaining about the house rules on someone else's website hasn't ever been tolerated here, and won't be.

We also have rules about bashing individuals, which includes the admins of other sites as well as the ORTM.

We're here to talk about our hobby. Save that drama for Facebook and Twitter.

After emotions run their course, this thread will be opened for the purpose it was intended -- questions about TSRE and how it works.

This should explain where the future of TRES currently stands. Goku has made it pretty clear. https://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showth...RE-development Post #181.

Thanks for the critique, but this is exactly what moderators are here to do. Keep the peace, and keep the discussion on track, and kick out those who can't or won't abide by the house rules.

These are just editor tools that do not, and should not, define the overall ORTS experience. The same editors and tools that worked last month will work tomorrow, and will continue to work next month and 6 months from now.

When the Conbuilder folks created their tools and went payware, they created and hosted their own support forums as a place where buyers could go for answers to their questions about their products. Contrast that to the maker of these tools who seemed to be content with allowing the brotherhood of Elvii to serve in that capacity for him. Just like it already was indirectly but improperly serving as a support forum for the ORTS application itself.

Its in his best interest to get to work on development of his own support forums infrastructure a-la Conbuilder. It would also behoove the ORTS team to think about taking the same steps for the adequate and proper support of their own product as well. Under the current arrangements, they seem to take too many bullets over some aggressive Katy Bar the Door antics.

    *** ADMIN NOTE ***

The venting about Elvas Tower has to stop. Complaining about the house rules in someone else's house hasn't ever been tolerated here, and this isn't an exception. We also have rules about bashing individuals, which includes the admins of other sites as well as the ORTM.

I expect y'all to act like adults and neighbors. Posts have been deleted. This isn't Facebook. Drama has no place here.

TSRE will ofc. continue to be MSTS backward compatible, so it would be possible to use it for OR too like you can use MSTS tools, but no support for new OR features in TSRE or new TSRE features in OR.

Adding tdb vectors to GE image terrain request

Hi, would it be possible please, to save the tdb vector lines onto the GE terrain saved in route/terrain_maps?
( In a similar way to "Mosaic")
The tdb lines can then be used as a guide for editing in in Photo shop (etc)
    My reasons are
    1) to establish the railway right of way across terrain
    2) to merge terrain texture with scenery models
    3) to remove modern GE features from historical routes.

Here is an example ( if I can get the link to work)
    IMG SRC="http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/71307/OpenRailsShawford.jpg/1"

Here the google earth image was dominated by the recent M3 motorway, but has been edited out in Photoshop. Also the terrain texture has been matched with the under track berm texture.
    Many thanks for TSRE5, rick

This pdf is good maybe for AE/CE. For RE it's mostly outdated.

    Kapitaen,

Yes, I know about that one, but I have never been able to get a download
of it. How can you do that without having to compile it using software that
I've never heard of. What is needed is something like that, that we can
download and use, and which can be added to as needed.

    Colleagues,

I would agree with the need for a manual, but GoKu surely has a life other than this program. I'm not a
good tech writer, but if someone is, maybe they could take the basic instructions that Goku started in
the beginning and compile the hints & tricks of Vince' and other materials from here and ElvasTower
and create a "open source" manual, i.e. one done in some common format like Microsoft Word so that
in the future as procedures are determined by us, or Goku, they might simply be added to it.

And Goku, I got to hand it to you, it is a great improvement over the buggy item Kuju/Microsoft came
out with. I have done a little "C+ and Visual C" programming but at almost 80 the fog is creeping
in and the bits & bytes sometimes get jumbled. Thanks for your effort.

Apologies if this already mentioned on the previous 40 or so pages, but on using TSRE to create a route from scratch on opening Route Riter to copy the default files over got a warning the route loading graphic ace file was missing. Easy enough to copy and rename a placeholder from another route but shouldn't TSRE be creating this as a default file?

Edit: Also need to change the reference in the trk file which is labelled as graphic.ace not the named graphic.

How to make it not hidden? In other words how do I activate this feature. TSRE5 badly needs a comprehensive manual like the one for MSTS RE by Michael Vone.

TSRE has hidden feature to use local not skewed simple projection, but it was not accepted by OR team.
Anyway, it should be possible to use for route building.
