    Wicked Error?

First of all let me say that I don't like to use dynamic track but sometimes nothing else will do. So I am laying a 6 degree 15 minute curve on the Parkersburg Branch. This translates to 279.4 meter radius. Okay, we have a 250 meter curve and a 300 meter curve and in M-tracks I have a 6 degree or 7 degree curve. So I elected to use dynamic track and got into the situation in the image. Somehow, a piece of dynamic is sitting there vertical with a yellow database line and a gray line where the track should be. I could edit the world file and get rid of that entry but then the track database would be out of sync and we have no rebuild or repair functions that I know of for that situation although as a last resort I could port the route over to MSTS on my XP machine and do a rebuild there. Any ideas how to fix this? Eric, you are the guru at this point - Help?

Have you used any of the 'hacks' tools? This seems like a perfect candidate for the 'remove vector' tool. Just attach a track piece to the end of the errant TDB lines and use the tool

Yes, I have tried that but I guess since the item is vertical, I took a long time and finally got a 10m track piece to attach but the remove vector tool removed the vector on the 10m piece but not the vertical.

That's a new one for me, Jerry...

What I'd try.... W file surgery.

        1) Close down TSRE
        2) Find the piece of DT
        3) Change the QDirection to 0 0 0 1
        4) Re-open TSRE

At this point, you should be able to select the dynamic track, do a Z and remove it from the TDB, and then delete it.

If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

Well, in the world file, there were two entries for dynamic track which is correct. Evidently this item has lost it's shape file so I will do the alternative and rebuild the
database on my antique machinie. My main interest here though was how to handle this for me, or anyone else, when there is no MSTS available.

The database rebuild went smoothly with no errors and this elimiinated the error. This could happen to any of us though and if we did not have a antique PC with MSTS on it, we might not be able to salvage our route. If left in place there would definitely have been an out of synch situation which we know is a No-No. One of our colleagues helped me a lot by having, and providing, a copy of the track chart so my plan is that when I finish the track to Parkersburg (another 45 miles or so to go) I will send him the route for his own use. I have a lot more digitized lines in this copy but I want to go back and work some more on my Knoxville Division (L&N) route and put this one on the shelf for a while.

Something all of us ought to consider is this. If you get your last Form A and running orders, is there someone among your relatives or friends that could up load all of your unfinished material to the website to the "incomplete" category. I have set this up with my son-in-law for myself. If "incomplete" gets too crowded or there is insufficient activity to justify keeping a incomplete route then Eric would just remove the route(s). As for myself, I have around 10 routes digitized and ready for further work, some with track already started, some not. For example, the entire Cumberland Valley Div. & EK div. of the L&N, L&N mainline from Louisville to Nashville. NC&St.L Nashville to Chattanooga with all branches as of 1935. Camas Prairie. Milwaukee Road, Harlowton to Great Falls & beyond, to name a few.
