It Pulls You Back In...

After sorting the Buttonwillow branch (traffic out and in), off to do the Arvin branch. Lordy "Well Populated... " puts a lot of traffic down there. Probably going to take a couple of pulls to clear it all out then work the standing traffic down to the industry. That then leaves several manifests to form up at Bakersfield with all the collected cars for points north, east and south (westish).

As you know Sean I'm a bit of a "Ronin" between the various sims, but it was time for a change from the TSW canned and packaged experience. Switching the branches and running the locals is very relaxing and exercises the old brain a little, more so than push to go and stop Electrostar EMU's!

I'm running 11 hours a week now in Northern California and streaming it all. I'm now 15 or so hours in and I'm just finishing the switching assignments at Sparks getting ready to send the daily WB to RV. This is a good operation for a single player base or small server and so far I enjoy it. Though news is always nice there is lots of competition out there now for my time. So far it has my attention as SimRail got repetitive for now and Railroader is still later this year.
Thanks
Sean

Finally added Arvin and Oak Creek to finish my SoCal network. Having great fun switching CalPortland (with the traffic spawned by Very Populated... ). The layout is like one of those switching puzzles!

Found myself back on Run 8 this evening after an absence of nearly 3 months. Well, got to get those Oil Cans down into the LA Basin.
So back to my OP, yes it still draws you back in and I've still got 800 odd assorted scattered consists/cars all over the map to deal with.
Just wish we did have a bit of news about anything coming down the pipe, either in terms of upgrades or new content.

Many people get excited about the eye candy. The issue is the big dev companies such as TSW have lots of people that pump out lots of stuff. Unfortunately the sim has very little substance in comparison. Not to mention most routes as mentioned are often smaller or compressed (in the case of Cajon Sub).
The Run8 team only has a limited number of people majority part time (I'm not sure if John is still full time as I think he was a couple years back). What they have done in 10 years is amazing for a small team and a devloper who I believe self taught himself within developing Run8 itself.
I've been toying around with developing but it's much harder and the solutions are not crystal clear.
Thanks

We’ve teamed up with Unity for a bundle of versatile game development tools, featuring more than two dozen utilities, systems, and other assets. Pay what you want and support Girls Make Games Scholarship!
About half way down the page, note the "Train Controller Ultimate Collection"
Could be a good headstart way to mess around with some ideas to see if it's worth investing additional time.
