Run8Studios and Hyrail Simulations CSX Baldwin

Hyrail Simulations brings you a new add on route and that is the CSX Baldwin

This route connects Callahan and Jacksonville ( Moncrief ) forming the triangle. Amtrak P001 and P002 the Sunset Limited ran across it from LA to Orlando before being dropped to New Orleans. Baldwin yard in this time frame of all HRS Southeast routes was a place auto racks were sorted and sent in different directions both loaded and empty.
Added sessions to get you started for this new route.

Sorry for slight bump, but thinking of getting this to fill out the SE routes. However realistically wondering what it offers in terms of operations for the $20, given from the DS screen it doesn’t seem to add much in the way of actual route mileage? Does it come with any fresh populated sessions to take advantage of the new yard? Yes I know you can grab the improved Industry config and very populated scenarios etc. from The Depot but sometimes it is less frantic to stick with the default.

Watched a bit of old Schaun wotsits video and it looks quite good. Obviously the same narrow corridor of scenery but we just have to accept that’s how Run 8 does things. Looks to be a fair bit of industry along the route too, which I always enjoy playing around with. Seems a worthy cause for $20 so will probably grab later, rather than putting more money into the maw of DTG for TSW or TSC!

Schaun the sheep does some good reviews, i have him subscribed on SmartTube. Yeah it is what it is, but $20 is not exactly a fortune Vern.

Plus you are more into the industry side of the game and switching etc. No interest personally in DTG buddy and once the cycle is broken of always going back to them. It is very liberating and i don't miss either game at all.

Purchased, also grabbed the Autorack 1 pack which is only $6 and from Schaun's review needed to avoid loads of R8 generic boxcars appearing in Baldwin Yard.

Just wish they would sort out the security issue with the files (boxcars were okay but Windows threw the usual wobbly downloading then installing Baldwin). Also havin to run the V3 installer then updater because you've installed V2 content, in the case of the cars.

Still I shall be a happy bunny off to Florida in a few moments.

Will see what Jason has lined up in the way of sessions then might venture over the depot for the alternate industry and busy session files.

The Narrow scenery corridor is intentional, for performance reasons, we have to do some things differently as plopping a million trees into a scene would really knock the framerates down, the intent and justification is that we try to lay scenery in what would be the obvious view from the cab or for someone trackside working the train or railfanning.

Get that Jason. Anyhow getting up to speed with the new section which now completes the SE for me. Need to grab a schematic map to piece the various sections together geographically as it isn’t always obvious from the DS screen.

But I can see me having hours of fun sorting things out and the greenery is a nice change from the arid terrain of SoCal. Thanks again to yourself and the rest of the team for the route. Hopefully one day on to Miami…

You are a bad influence Vern, just purchased the Baldwin route and the newish View Liner cars, with the 3d interiors.

Viewliners are nice and I believe they are used on the SE passenger services. I still need to buy the Amfleets at some point.

I quite like the Florida driving as you can get a bit of sustained fast running.

I fancied a bit of passenger seat running, i already own the other two Amtrak sets Vern.

Yeah i enjoy the SE routes and the SW ones. The only ones i will never buy, are the NE routes, no interest to me at all. Nearly purchased that coal route as well, but at only 30 miles end to end i am not that excited by it.

From what I read, the South Fork route is more of an extension to their HSC doesn’t work standalone. I never bothered getting either of those TBH, already got the TSC and TSW versions which I only played infrequently. Difference being of course Run 8 gives you the proper industry function rather than the pointless switching scenarios of the DTG games.

I have HSC Vern, but i did not realise South Fork was an extension. It would be worth having for me in that case.

Vern the local from Moncrief the A715 is a fun run from Moncrief to Baldwin. To finish that off is the M744 out of Baldwin.
