Something is wrong with my Run8

I fired up the sim two days ago after a pause of several months and found something not quite right.
In the three regions, some "Worlds" do not load all trains, or do not load any tracks, or both.

One typical example is Bartsow-Yermo, "V3 Busy Barstow Jan 2018"....a default setup.
It gets to "Loading train #70 of 213" and that's as far as it gets.

I have run the updater and it reports that all is good but I am wondering if I need to dump the whole v3R8 installation and redo it.

    Any thoughts?

Bruce, the only thing that comes to mind is at that initial launcher screen, where you select the region on the left hand side.
In v3, if you also select a "route", Run8 will only load the track database for that route, but you'll still see all the scenery tiles - just no tracks, signal heads, etc...

If I had to guess, I'd say it's likely you selected both a region and a route. If that's the case, just restart run8, pick only a region and leave the route list alone and that should clear up your issue.

Sounds a bit odd Bruce. Might be worth running the V3 main installer again then the updater see if that cures it before a complete delete and reinstall. Certainly sounds like some files have gone AWOL. I actually had an email conversation with John G. the other day about the current state of the installer/updater and while he assured me everything works as it should I really don't like the process involved, particularly adding V2 content to V3.

Edit: In fact a similar situation did happen to me a couple of years ago when I added the Florida route and its updates. Everything had to be done in a particular order which somehow I messed up and ended up with track not drawing in or the world rendering correctly. That happened after running the main installer which is supposed to offer a repair function but doesn't. Can't remember how I sorted it eventually but it was a lot of work for something that ought to be a seamless process.

I've had World Saves fail on me a few times in the past. However, the Auto Save World actually rendered everything back for me. Auto Saves are saved in their own folder in each Region. World Saves are in the Train folder of each Region. If you have Auto Save activated from the Main Options Menu set at every 2-10 minutes, it takes a "snapshot" of your world. The sim only saves the last 10 Autosaves. If you still have them, find the Autosave from the date around the last time you played (months ago). If they are still there, select one and load. The routes in Run8 are Region dependent. Not Routes alone as one might suspect.

              Bruce, I'm glad that helped!

Shameless plug: If you're not already using it - I wrote a little utility called "External Assistant for Run8" you can find it at run8guides.com

So was I, Vern. Glad I didn't have to do a reinstall.
