Thanks Mike, was toying with getting the Modesto section but if it is just the same old graphics, then sorry if it offends anyone not worth £35 after taking currency fees into account. I know it’s not the be all and end all where Run 8 is concerned but they really need to update the graphics engine to deliver something that’s not even as pretty as early MSTS. I’ll probably get tarred and feathered for saying that, but feel it’s valid criticism when being asked to pay that much and bearing in mind they never have any sort of sale.Vern.

I always thought that forums were about opinions and discussion, Vern. I don't see any problem with expressing an opinion on something that is fact.
Even DTG do not sell routes without loco's and stock, at those prices. Plus it's not as if we rubbish R8 and have never supported it.

I haven't bought it, and have no intention of doing so, simply because I agree with Vern's comments.
The graphic's engine needs updating.

New assets are of course always welcome but they are still running in a landscape with 2D trees reminiscent of pre MSTS. Look we all love Run 8 and what it can do, but that doesn’t mean to say there isn’t significant room for improvement. At some point I’ll probably see if Schaunpowaz (sp) has bought the route and done an overview/review of it at which point I’ll make a decision whether it’s worth parting with £35.Vern.

He has bought the route Vern, there is a review of the route, then a mainline run on the new route and last night, he posted another video with operations on the MT area, whatever that is.
I have purchased the route and it's the same old same old, as far as vegetation is concerned. Absolutely mental in 2024, even TSC which is a lot older. Holds up better graphically. I paid my money so i get to give an opinion.

I bought the DLC, have run it a few times now, and it's decent. It's the tired 2D vegetation at trackside that needs to be replaced by something post-1986. I'm not suggesting the devs invest in SpeedTree but with the better lighting modelling in the sim that was brought in with v.2 (or was it just in v3?) the ancient X or + veg looks pretty silly. Just my opinion of course.Avidly simming on the rails:
