Depth of Field. . .

and sense of relative distance is quite remarkable in Run8. Notice the fog and mist in the distance. It wasn`t long and a SP manifest came rolling around the corner in the second shot.Teleportation at dusk in Run8 never ceases to impress the unsuspecting rail fan.

Note: There is no denying Run8 V2 has its own beauty. It is a testimony to the unique dedication of the developers (and their supporters) and to what I believe is the best Rail Simulator on the market. Yes, the learning curve is steep, but the rewards are worth it.

Sense of Distance

The sense of distance is incredible in this sim. If your system can afford it, turn up (F1) GFX menu, "Rail Unit Draw Distance" to 5500 (m).

Shadows Coming?

I have been away from Run8 for awhile. As reported in General Discussion and "Highball Run8 Forum," it appears that shadows may be part of a pending update. The pic comes from Highball Run8 forum.

Note: I hope its true and does not end up being a frame-rate killer.

It`s funny how things usually go quiet prior to an update. We are waiting.

Something Wicked This Way Comes. . .

. . .shadows.

They look fantastic. Not to mention all the little tweaks and additional sound updates as well. Plus the F1 Menu is updated also updated.

Run8 "steeps" along like a warm cup of tea for those who hang in there.

Note: The updated locomotive sounds are impressive. Crossing gate bells, horn sound from cab, etc, etc. are also updated.

On The Bright Side

There also seems to be shadows on the sunny side of details--like the trucks and houses on the right of way. Dusk looks good as usual.

Note: You have to admit--Run8 is a very decent rail simulator. Yes--I know I am being modest. ;-)

I decided to visit Selkirk. I believe it is still a work in progress which offers another learning curve.

Note:It would be nice to see an eventual CP train-set release to accommodate it.
