Feel free to log into train-sim.com and you'll have all the privacy all you want -- that's not our site's domain and hasn't been for over ten years.

If you like what you see here at Trainsim.com, be it the discussions and knowledge in the forums, items saved in our library or the ongoing development of our TSRE Fork, I hope you'll consider a paid membership to help support keeping the site operating.... Thanks!

Opinions, are like buttholes, everyone got one, and they usually stink. But fear mongering isn't the way to go. Use whatever you feel comfortable with. But remember Duck Duck Go, is just a search engine.

I used DDG from 2018 to 2022, I switched to the Brave browser after.learning that DDG was built on Bing and is just as invasive as Bing, I will use google as a second option, because bing/google/ddg iare basically the same security wise. If you really want privacy though, I've learned that brave, along with a great VPN makes you very safe. But, as I said earlier use whatever you want, it makes no difference to me.

Okay, what is your point? According to https://firstsiteguide.com/google-search-stats/ Google processes more than 3.7 billion searches every day, and 1.2 trillion searches every year, on a Global basis. Just because a lot of people use it doesn't mean it is good. But, that is why there is choice, even if I may not agree with your opinion, it is okay to disagree. You use whatever search engine you want, that is your decision. But it will be you, that will have to face any consequences for those decisions, if there are any. So if you are okay with that, why should I try to change your mind? You be you and do what you want it is your life.

Just for fun, I did a search on ddg for train simulation, and the first two responses were ads, and everything else was something on Steam.

While they might not be capturing what you see as personal information by putting a tracking cookie out (easily defeated), they are indeed selling search response positioning out to the highest bidder.

There's a lot that a website owner can determine from search logs. I'm very skeptical if they aren't using or even selling that anonymousized data to third parties. They're just pulling back one degree from what bing, google, or other search engines seem to do. You can't run a service like that without an angle to make money.

"Kids", it doesn't matter what browser you use, what it was built on, or how many people use it .... the point is ... somebody is always willing to turn something good into something bad just to suit their purposes -- selfish, monetary, evil, whatever ...it's the nature of the beast...aka...two-legged critter.

DuckDuckGo is an independent Internet privacy company that aims to make getting privacy simple and accessible for everyone. Our free web browser for iOS, Android, Mac, and Windows lets you search and browse the web, but — unlike Google Search and Chrome — we don't track your searches or browsing history, and we block other companies from doing so.

I have been using it for years.
