Laptop Screen to 32" TV Screen Settings please?

Hello everybody, I'm back after a Short absence with more questions I'm afraid. Can anybody please help with this?. I have found out that I can connect my Laptop to my Panasonic 32" wide screen TV via an HDMI Cable. results are quite spectacular given the difference in screen size.

However, and this is the problem :-

When running MSTS using different additional Routes to the Default ones on my Laptop, "Currently running Dorset Coast Route V.6" they will run from start to Completion with no problem but as soon as I change to TV Screen Mode It runs for about Two or Three Minutes and the Laptop turns OFF

Having set all my Power Options to " NEVER TURN OFF" and for closing the Lid settings to "DO NOTHING" I don't understand what's going on.

    Any help or suggestions Please?

    Thanks

    Paul.

Do you have a Screensaver enabled? If you're not doing any keyboard or mouse input, that might be kicking in.

I don't share my laptop screen except doing PowerPoint presentations - are you sharing the screen? When sharing the screen, what you're viewing is still displaying on the laptop monitor. I've never tried giving the screen to another monitor/TV solely.

        Hi Eric, thanks for reply.

Not aware of any Screensavers unless you mean the Loco Picture I use as my Desktop Picture?

        Thanks

        PAUL.

Hi oper190,thanks for reply. Hope this makes sense.

When I started this MSTS was displayed both on the Laptop and the 32" TV Screen.

But when I started the Laptop today MSTS was displayed on the Laptop only with a Blank TV Screen.

however, when closing the Laptop Lid the TV Screen opened up with MSTS but as said would only run for

a few Minutes before the Laptop shuts off.

          Hope this helps.

          Thanks
          Paul.

Paul - Never tried running anything but a PowerPoint on a shared screen - I would take from what you are saying that when closing the laptop is putting it to sleep. Next time I have my laptop out ( which isn't to often ) I will look into settings to see if they are different than my desktop. Will try hooking my laptop to my TV see what I get.

I suspect the laptop is going to sleep with no keyboard input.

Leave the laptop open and see what happens when it turns off.

ID:	2294186 You have some sort of inactivity setting turned on which is locking your screen, similar to what I asked about the screensaver.

Hi Eric, thanks again for reply. Still need some help please?

I cannot read your last reply (to small) showing how to change the file.

I have however, Unchecked the Lock Screen box but appears to make no difference.

MSTS runs for a couple off Minutes and then shuts off the Laptop with Blue Screen Message "Locking".

                    Many thanks

                    Paul.

I wonder if the laptop could be overheating?
Is there resolution of the TV greater than the resolution of the laptop?

What I would do is go into windows monitor settings and configure the tv as your external monitor, then use the option to make the tv your "Main Display" - this will move the start bar to that monitor when it's connected - and will also cause openrails and most other 3D programs to launch there, then you can keep the lid open on the laptop, which typically provides better cooling, and allows you to have a PDF or website up on the screen as you run.

Hello everybody, thanks for your replies and suggestions.

This Is where I have got to so far with moving Laptop Screen to my TV Screen.

Laptop now tells me that I am connected to my "Panosonic 32 TV".

My System Settings for close Lid are as follows, On battery and Pluggged In settings:-

When I press the power button SHUT DOWN

When I press the sleep button SLEEP

When I close thew lid DO NOTHING

However, still getting BLUE SCREEN with "LOCKED" and Laptop Shutting Down after a few Minutes. ( Unable to use keys to Continue because Laptop has shutdown).

There must be another setting within my laptop, (that I'm not aware of) which is Locked?

                        Anymore help or suggestions please.

                        Many thanks

                        Paul.
