    Anyone into milsurps?

    G'day folks,

I do a bit of shooting, and milsurps are my weapons of choice. I have nearly a dozen .303 rifles from an 1889 Lee Metford to a one of the last Lee Enfields made in 1953 (No4 Mk2). Here I am with my Australian 1915 Lee Enfield No1 MkIII rifle.

And here is a pic of another .303 that I'll never be able to own!

So, who wants to show their toys?!

    Cheers,
    Matt

      Nice, Those shoot great!

I don't have any pictures of my toys offhand.

      My Milsups include...

      K98 Mauser
      Walthers P38
      M91/30 and 44 Nagant

Yes, the K98 does live up to it's reputation!

Matt, my friend who's currently in the US Army... is jealous of you..... lol. I'm guessing the .303 in the second shot is water cooled? judging by the rather large chamber around the barrel...

I owned a Garand, used to scare the bejeebies out of people when it ejected it's clip. Even had one guy who insisted I remove the thing from the range becaue it was defective... Had an IBM manufactured .30 Carbine, and a couple of AR-15's. Unfortunately, family time and other demands came along, and I sold my collection of about 2 1/2 dozen firearms. Had some good stuff, too, I still miss my .45 Colts... My favorite was a P-85 Ruger, won a pistol match with that one! And my Redhawk, nothing like a hand filling .44 Magnum to give you that nice warm feeling...

Anyway, in the Army, I qualified (Expert) with the M16A1, and M60, and qualified as a gunner on an M110A3: http://www.theforsakenoutlaw.com/Nat.../Land/m110.htm

I been gone on Vacation and THIS thread nearly missed me!!

            Anyone into milsurps?!?!?!

            LOL!! HECK YEA!!!

I myself am EXTREMELY partial to Lee-Enfields myself, with my personal favorite being a "Lithgow" No 1 MKIII that is in PERFECT shape!

I also own other No1 Mk3's of various makes and vintages, one No5 Carbine. I also have all kinds of enfield accessories, like, chargers, bandoleers, and odds and ends.

Not to mention hundreds and hundreds of WW2 surplus .303 Mk7 ball ammunition! I even have a couple of cloth belts for that Vickers in your photo. MMMM CORDITE!!!

I have both an M1 Garand and 2 M1 Carbines, my grandfather's 1911 .45 that he carried in WWII. I also own an 03' Springfield, a few Mosin Nagants, of various origins and models.

Currently looking for a "vet bring back" K98K Mauser, and a Jap Arisaka. (currently in negotiation to getting the "bring back" Arisaka)

One Browning High power in 9mm, 2 Kimber 1911, .45's for self defence and carrying. Started the wife out on the browning, but she took my .45 away from me, so I had to get another one.

Got several other "odds and ends" but the vast majority of my firearms are of military origin. Also own a few "newer" style civilian semi auto's, a couple of AK-47's, SKS's and an AR 15.

BTW, Do you have an EXTRA PROPER "ANZAC" bayonet, for a No1 MKIII? If so we can we "wheel and deal"

Andy, great to hear it! What year is your Lithgow? I could help out with a bayo, as I have...erm...twenty five!

I've made a few videos for YouTube showing my rifles, both in detail and shooting of them.

Share your videos with friends, family, and the world

                RE: Anyone into milsurps?

Sorry for the delay, the past couple of weeks, "LIFE" has intervened upon myself in a big way.

My Lithgow is dated 1918, but it does have some strange (to me) markings... I hope you can tell me a bit about them. It has the number "244" stamped into the wood, on the right side of the rifle, just behind the nose cap, the numerals also appear to be highlighted with white paint.

Also, the butt stock has a faint GREEN-ish band around it,it appears to be about 1 inch wide, and is just behind the hand grip.

This happens to be my best Enfield, I have a few, NOT ANYTHING like your collection tho.

This example appears to be new, but is most likely arsenal refinished.

Also THANK YOU...For your YouTube movies!! I had long wondered the proper way to remove the furniture away from these rifles, and thanks to you, now I know! (I plan to strip the furniture away from one of my cosmoline soaked rifles, to clean up the wood, out in the HOT sun over the next few days)

AS for the Bayonet, I would love to lay my hands on an proper example, tell me what you would like for it, ( I have access to lots of millsurp items)

Feel free to email me a "list of your demands"...LOL You can use the email or PM function here on the forum to reach me (I don't enter my email in forums anymore, darn spammers)
