Shouldn't you be busy trashing Hillary or OBama right now???????

After all you have to make sure of your candidates "intellectual purity" don't you?

Don't worry about us - we'll still be here waiting on you in September after you get done cleaning up the debris from your "convention".....

I'm not sure whether you guys are busy organizing a circlular firing squad or some other kind of circle?

      Chuck,

Or maybe it's time for you to figure out that Bush, Cheney & the Neocons are a band of idiots totally bankrupt of ability, ideas or anything else connected with the real world?

Maybe Charles could tell us how well the Bush economy is doing whilst we can still afford an internet connection. Might want to hurry though.

I used to enjoy going to the grocery store, now I avoid it whenever possible.

Last year wheat was $350 a ton. At Christmas it was $1000 a ton. Right now its $1350 a ton. That loaf of bread you'll want in June will be 4 times the price you're paying now. Beer will be the province of the rich.

Brits are paying $10 for gas. And in 2000 you were paying what?

If I might point out that it was in the summer of 2000 that gas prices hit over 2.25 a gallon here in the Chicago area and have, short of the summers of 01 and 02 been consistantly the highest in the continental US (until this year where it looks like Cali has decided to step up to bust the 4.00 mark already).
Now could someone refresh me as to who was president during the summer of 2000?
That would have been Bill Clinton and why did gas spike?
The EPA's reformulated gas regulations that stated that summer blend could never touch winter blend so storage tanks had to be drained thus causing artificial shortages, add to that the crazy quilt of 40 some odd special regional blends that can only be sold in their respective areas.
One of the things Bush did was get rid of the "no mix" regs and that did help but if I fault him for anything it's for not scrapping the regional blend crapola and stopping the EPA mandated shortages every spring.
Clinton did the damge by showing that the oil speculators could run up prices and we wouldn't start forming lynch mobs.
What we have is those that made a killing in the tech sector till the dot bomb collapse moved into the mortgage sector and ran that into the ground and are now moving into commodities.

BTW weren't the Dems going to do something about gas prices? besides the floating failed ideas such as price controls( tried by Nixon led to high prices and shortages) and windfall profit taxes( tried by Carter same end results as Nixon) or was all that talk just boob bait for us numbskulls in flyover country to get our votes(well not mine) as I thought one of the problems the Dems had was that gas was just too damn cheap and we needed huge tax increases on gas to make us all use less.

Doh, what was I thinking? Knowing Bush won't take blame for anything (always someone else's fault) I guess I should expect this. It's Clinton's fault....it's Clinton's fault!

Come on Gary, Bill has been out of office for 7 years and this mess we're in is a lot more than different blends of gas.

Anybody know what beer from China tastes like? After all, that will be the course of direction to avoid that $5 loaf of bread.

                      Now where's my solar-powered pants????

Tsingtao is really good beer straight from China.Bottled there even.My other favorite is a Japanese beer called Sapporo but that is bottled in Canada so not sure if you can really call that a Japanese beer or not.

                          Bob
I noted Clinton's role in higher oil/gas prices due to the vid clip showing .99 a gallon gas and leaving the impression that these huge price spikes only occured on Bush's watch.
I also noted in my post where a lot of the current push to 4.00 + gas and 100 + oil is coming from...

"What we have is those that made a killing in the tech sector till the dot bomb collapse moved into the mortgage sector and ran that into the ground and are now moving into commodities."

I should also admit that Bush(as well as the Republican congress) have screwed the pooch big time by not investigating who is running the commodites markets as in the past when Bush made statements that all price gouging would be investigated all of a sudden the markets would drop and prices would stablize for a time until it became clear it would yet again be another "haul in oil execs and brow beat them" session.
If you want to really do something about oil and such then either (a) the trading of commodities needs to be investigated for market manipulation as I was always under the impression that that market was driven by market forces and that you bet whether or not oil (or whatever)was going to go up or go down,if you bet right you made money,if not you lost your azz.
Now it seems that the traders say jump and the market says how high.
BP has already had a few traders that work for them get nailed for doing this with propane markets so it is not too far fetched that this would go on with oil.
Or option (b) get oil off the commodities market.

Trust me, I'm not all that happy with Bush in regards to a number of his policies but he was by far the better choice (IMO) over either Gore or Kerry.
While McCaine was like my second to the last choice I will still hold my nose and vote for him over the subtle differences in shades of red that either Comrade Obama or Comrade Clinton offer.

How unfortunate we will never be able to prove that, moving beyond an opinion, because we simply cannot set the clock back and let the other one try. Truth is all we are left to do is sweep up from this disaster.

How sad it is that we have become a nation that politically cheerleads regarding who is believed to be the best at making the smallest mess.
