Hmmm, a $200 model locomotive hitting the ground, after falling between 3 and 6 feet.
or,
A $20,000 model plane hitting the ground, after propelling itself down 200 feet.
I think I'll stay a spectator in that second one. I could handle the first, even assuming I had a $200 locomotive.

Man wonder how much flying you need under your belt before you have enough skill to be able to perform flying stunts like these.
I guess a plane with alot of power to weight ratio helps as well as a fat wallet and not getting to emotionally attached to any particular model airplane for when the time comes when you auger the sucker into terraferma

I built a flyable B-17 but never had the guts to try to fly it. It still sits on top of a large shelf. One more thing I have to dust.

Plenty, trust me. There is a club across the river from me that flys these every other weekend... I had the opportunity to fly someones P-51D, and no sooner did I get the plane in the air did I turn controls back over to the experienced pilot. On take off, I caught a cross wind and almost put it into the ground, I managed to climb enough that I could allow the owner to take over before I screwed something else up with no room to recover.
A few years back someone had a model of a Mig-17, but they put that into the ground on landing. He lost control of his elevators on final approach and down she went. Sad site to see but the fire was cool
