Just Hoping… That after the November election the politicians just leave us alone and let everyone get back to doing what we do best. If that means cutting back some, so be it, but life will go on.

Ask yourself why such a plan wasn't accomplished when one side recently had control of both legislative and executive branches of government? Why, instead of McCains approach, did we get "income redistribution" antics like the Prescription Drug Bill instead?

Answer, the Republicans tried to take the issue away from the Democrats by outspending the Democrats. Results, they paid for that mistake in 2006 by losing control of both houses of Congress.

So, you think we will have to deal with rioting if one party looses?

That would be pure stupidity to riot over the election results and totally irresponsible for the Main Stream Media to incite even more rioting by glorifying them. It would be almost as bad as when Dan Rathers accused the American voters in 1994 of "acting like a bunch of spoiled brats" when they handed the Democrats a record defeat in the mid term elections.

Still, I wouldn't be surprised when the riots break out in the ghetto neighborhoods. Those riots could be in celebration a Glorious Victory or in anger from losing the elections.

Actually Ron I think the Republicans got captured by DC and the lobbyists. I think George Stephanopoulos (sp) said it best when he reportedly said "Power Corrupts and absolute power is actually kinda neat!"

The politicians forgot they were supposed to represent the folks and not enrich themselves... So they became guilty of everything they accused their opponents of...

Ron yes as of late there have been some interesting discussions but it seems a few want to turn this into a mud sling competition and thats not going to happen.....Remember we are the invited guests of Nels and its his forum and site.

Will I lock it right now no as that would deny more slinging to be done
But it's those damn socialist ideas of yours that keep leaking south!
Let me be clear, I think something needs to be fixed in the health-care system for instance - I just don't think the management of the US Postal Service is the solution....
The banking collapse is the result, IMHO, of a perfect storm of corrupt politicians selling their souls to lobbyists, criminal behavior on an unprecedented scale in the investment industry and the mother of all greed from the entitlement generation.

Empty vessels mouthing platitudes can do that.

FWIW, every 4 years we do not elect a President. We elect a Federal Government: The Senate, House, White House, w/Cabinet and power to appoint. Seldom does one political party control all of that and when it does occur, it's always a race to see who has the real power and therefore sets the agenda.

I've said it before and no doubt I'll have to say it many times again, it's about to be 1974-80 de ja vue. If you liked the Carter years when Congress ran much of the show and you want to see that again, vote for Obama and let Congress do it's thing. If you didn't, vote for McCain. Simple as that.

Getting back to the whys of what we have, it's real simple. Every 4 years where we vote to partly get for what we believe in and then also partly to make sure we don't get what some of you'all believe in. So take GW for example. You got Kenny howling on the "why oh why did this -R not do -R things?" It's real simple. We got a partial -r (read neo-con) not the whole -R (read Conservative).

And why is that good instead of bad? Because the other choice was a no-brainer. A vehement NO to Gore -D even if it meant -r (read neo-con)instead of -R (read Conservative).

Whatever is said in this pre-election hysteria will be soon forgotten. And I'm talking about the pre-election promises and appeals to change. Nothing is gonna change and most likely it will get worse. And why? Because again, even with McCain you get an -r instead of an -R. And once again, a vehement NO to Obama -DD and socialism. So 4 more years of complaining and -r's trying to cater to the left (read -D) for reasons of getting along and bipartianship (read as meaning "nothing but leftie things get done"). Bush tried (read as "did a lot of leftie things and look what that got him, now nobody likes him!) and failed. McCain will try (read as "reaching out to the D's or as we say, liberals) -- and he will fail.

The Founding Fathers favored gridlock over tyranny. With government, that's really your only two choices. Tyranny or Gridlock. So we'll take gridlock for $100 please. And the answer is... Gridlock! So just be patient, there's more complaining to come.

John Adams disliked seeing politics evolve to the party system. He thought the party idealogy would invite members to party loyalty rather than American loyalty. The original members of the Declaration saw themselves as Americans and not as members of a party. What we have today is where the "party interests" rule rather than representation by elected members (more so at the congressional level and presidential level but you do see it some in the local elections as well). And we see the same thing with the politicalization of the judicial branch as well.

Now that our government is figuring out new ways around gridlock, we have an activist government running amok. This is not what the Founding Fathers wanted. And isn't this ironic that as this happens, we say things are getting worse rather than better. The Founding Fathers having left the 'old world' for the colonies understood what government did. And oddly enough, we're learning that lesson all over again ourselves.

Call it what you will, but this country is having a healthy debate on what form of government will prevail or not. Will it be more socialistic (read as tyranny) or will it be the same (read as Gridlock). Whatever the outcome ot Tuesday is, we're sure to have more complaining.

History won't repeat this time around, tho, as we have many prominent members with founding pedigrees within the -R movement voting for -D for the first time, rather than -r, primarily over the dominionism history of Mrs. -r

The core of the -R movement is in crisis, distracted off course over the years by the invasion of the religious players and their war agendas. Today, they fail to make the distinction that while its okay to be a religious person in office, their first obligation of holding such a position of government power is to their nation and not to their god. And if they cannot make that distinction, they need to step out (or get shoved out).

I wish the -R movement would get on to solving this problem for themselves, rather than cranking up the cries of socialism behind the alternative.

"William F. Buckley, who died last February, was no fan of George W. Bush, whom he didn't regard as a true conservative, and toward the end of his life he seemed deeply dismayed by the influence of the evangelical movement over the Republican Party. Christopher Buckley, who says he was once genuinely fond of John McCain, switched over to Obama in part out of disgust at the way McCain has conducted his campaign, but largely because of his selection of Sarah Palin as his running mate. "What on earth can [McCain] have been thinking?" Buckley wrote. It seems almost certain that if Buckley's blue-blooded, Yale-educated father were alive today, he would have felt exactly the same way."

I agree 100% kenny with your post above. I actually used to like mccain to an extent but now he is just one of the same old conservitives. Hmm kind of reminds me of a flip flopper first he's against the tax cuts then he for them, first he criticizes the war the he belives we should be there longer. Which mccain would would we see if he got elected on tuesday, the one who rebels from his own party on certain issues or the one who will continue much of bush's failed policy's.

I'm also in 100% agreement here. The sooner the -R movement divorces themselves from the religious right, the better. If I wanted to live in a theocracy, there are any number of other countries I could move to.

Oh, gosh, all of the Lefties agree on what's "wrong" with the Republican Party! Gosh, STOP THE PRESSES. CALL THE NY TIMES!

Oh, well, as long as we're discussing what's wrong with the "-R's" let's discuss what's wrong with the "-D's!"

Interesting. I wonder why the -D "solution" to every single problem America faces is to blame Bush? Clinton blamed Bush and Reagan for 8 years, Pelosi, Reid, et al. blamed Bush for the past 2. Obama's entire campaign has been to blame Bush. When are the -Ds going to actually solve a problem rather than discussing blame? In my entire 46 years of life, I cannot think of a single problem for which there has been a -D solution. Can you?

                              Iraq: Bush started it.
                              Economy: Bush's failed economic policies.
Mortgage crisis: Bush's failure to force Democrats to find a solution.
It goes on and on and on...

I'll just sit by and wait for all of the -Ds to blame Bush for there not being any -D solutions...

                                Found this posted on another website. If you have a better solution, let us know;
                                Dear Fellow Business Owners,
As a business owner who employs 30 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barack Obama will be our next president, and that my taxes and fees will go up in a BIG way.
To compensate for these increases, I figure that the Customer will have to see an increase in my fees to them of about 8 to 10%. I will also have to lay off six of my employees. This really bothered me as I believe we are family here and didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did.
I strolled thru the parking lot and found eight Obama bumper stickers on my employees’ cars. I have decided these folks will be the first to be laid off.
I can’t think of another fair way to approach this problem. If you have a better idea, let me know.
