    Anniversary

There is another anniversary taking place this day. Thirty-three years ago tonight (Eastern Standard - USA) the Steamer EDMUND FITZGERALD was lost with all hands (29) in Lake Superior during a violent storm. Please take a moment to remember them. Thank you.

Hi; Thanks for the post. If it wasn't for Gordon Lightfoot I don't think I would have really known about the disaster. I've seen firsthand what angry seas are like and would not like to wish that on anyone. Do you have a personal involvement with the loss? So close and yet so far! Cheers, and try to have a good day. "Do you have a personal involvement with the loss?"

None except for the great interest in the Great Lakes boats and the fact that I own part of the FITZGERALD, albeit a very small part. I've had a couple of trips aboard a couple of the boats and have spent years upon the waters of the Great Lakes and a few months on the Pacific as well.

I'm sure that Gordon Lightfoot had an influence on many knowing of the tragedy. I shed a tear or two every time I hear the song.

Its nice to see that someone has remembered the "Big Fitz" tragedy. Most people I talk to no nothing of the song or the ship or for that matter really care at all.

Has the Fitzgerald been made for virtual sailor or ship simulator?
