Chicago Area Meet up - March 3

    Hi Everyone, happy holidays!

I've noticed there seem to be quite a few of us that are located in the Chicago Metro Area.

Does anyone have any interest in meeting up in real life - Possibly some time in February-March?

    Here are a few thoughts:

    - The Elmhurst model railroad club holds an open house most Friday Nights and Sunday Afternoons. (Elmhurst Model Railroad Club | Home of the Illinois Western Railroad (emrrc.net))
If we agreed to meet there, we'd not only get a chance to talk about our favorite sim train hobby but we could see 3 really neat model railroads.

-The Great Midwest Train Show is held at the DuPage County Fairgrounds - there is an entrance fee, but if people had an interest in going to the show, it could be a good place to meet up.

Bumping this- Any interest in human to human discussion about our hobby?

I'm heading to the Great Midwest Train Show today - I know it's too late to coordinate a meet up for today, but there's always March, April, etc...

By the way, I learned today that tickets for the show are $8 cash at the door, $7 credit card if bought online and $6.30 credit card if bought online and the coupon code FB10 is used.

        Hey Jack,
I'm local and have been to, and have friends with booths at that show, pretty regularly. We slide over to West Chicago at the tower afterward whenever we hit that show.
Maybe next month, if I am not working.

Sounds like a fun idea. March 3rd is the next show. I'll try to make it.

Believe it or not, I've never been to JB or Spaulding...

                Suggested itinerary:

Arrive at the Train show anywhere between 9-10:30 for browsing.
(those wishing to browse longer should arrive earlier)

At 11:00 am - Trainsim.com meet and greet in the larger building by/on the stage. (Larger building is the one you enter from the parking lot)

11:15 - Head to JB tower JB Tower - West Chicago, Illinois (wikimapia.org)
JB tower is about 5 miles West of the train Show.

                JB tower from 11:30-12:30?
12:30ish: Leave JB tower, with an optional stopover at the Prairie Scale Model Railroaders open house in Lombard.

1PM arrival (approx): Prairie Scale Model Railroaders Lombard, IL
Model Rail Club | Lombard | Prairie Scale Model Railroaders (psmrr.org)
This is about 11 miles east of JB tower, but it's a nice straight ride down Geneva Rd.
                Prairie Scale is open 11-4
By the above schedule I'd estimate being there around 1pm

Of note: Prairie State's just a few miles from 2 exits on 355 - fairly convenient for anyone heading north or south afterwards.

                For the Train Show:

I Saw this on Facebook - order tickets online and use the code FB10 and save $1.70 vs the cash price at the door.

I may be able to meet up at JB Tower at 11:30am. I usually park in the small gravel lot on the SW side of the tower (across the street).
Black Dodge Ram 2500, can't miss me

I'll plan on hitting the show first. My dad is looking to sell off some of his HO collection, and I might as well check tables to see if there are any similar items to get an idea on pricing.

                          Same here!
I'll be at the show sometime before 11 to browse around and will plan on meeting in the larger building on/by the stage at 11am.

Enjoyed getting to meet those who came out today. I think we may need to do this again over the summer, possibly out at the IRM for one of their events.

I had a family function today and was unable to attend but I like the IRM idea. I have found that during the week it's slower but you can end up with a run of the place were you can poke around with out having to move along. One can never get enough of that museum.

Great to meet Eric and Jack, good people for sure. Family function, where are your priorities Kelleher! Every time heard a bike come by I was wondering if it was you

IRM would be a neat place to tool around, for sure! Let's do it before it gets blazing hot; earlier summer?
