    Hi Dave,

Hmm - reminds me of the lyrics of an old Oingo Boingo song - perhaps it was the inspiration?

    No Spill Blood
    Who makes the rules?
    Someone else
    Who makes the rules!?
    Someone else!
    What is the law?
    No spill blood
    What is the law!?
    No spill blood!

We walk on two legs, not on four
To walk on four legs breaks the law
What happens when we break the law?
What happens when the rules aren't fair?
We all know where we go from there!
    To the house of pain!
    To the house of pain!
    To the house of pain!
    Regards,
    Scott

Thanks for that one, truly a masterpiece of early horror, that still has the ability to scare, or send the creeps up your spine. Supposedly Alan Ladd, Randolph Scott and Buster Crabbe are among the monster extras running around. I saw an excellent complete print in LA in the early seventies...TCM shows it every once in a while.

One of my favorites is "Forbidden Planet" (1956) with Walter Pidgeon and Anne Francis. That kept me up for a few nights.

Yep & a shout out to the inimitable Leslie Nielson --- ( to leave the topic of the thread for a minute ) who can forget Dr. Rumack in "Airplane" and Frank Drebin in the first Naked Gun film?

Too young when I saw this on TV, afraid of shadows at night for weeks afterward
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Wax_(1953_film)

Also too young when I saw this on TV, even to this day, it is just too creepy

While not strictly a horror, per say, deeply disturbing, and poignant enough to the point of discomfort

For those who are lucky enough to have lived without a days doubt, you will never understand this film

Maybe the ape part is a bit of a laugh, at times, but the subtext and certainly the ending is a reminder just how close the clock is to midnight
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_of_the_Apes

There are a lot of musings, from time to time, about the ultimate war, but we spend so little time thinking about the endgame

I have always found this to be the least sensational of all those films that came out in the "80s" about what could happen if we do the unthinkable

Classic Lynch, but also deeply disturbing that somebody would conjure up such a story

I always worry that I will have to deal with a Frank in my life, Hopper at his best

Sanity is but a veneer, we only need a venue to siphon off what little reality we think we have in our heads

If you saw this movie when it first came out, I cannot see how you cannot note it is a reflection of what is going on as we speak. Hot enough? Yes Eric, thanks for posting this!

There are many more, but time is short. Yeah, "Alien" and "Aliens", good call!

Thank for letting me post these. Obviously spent too much time in repertoire cinemas in years past, not to mention friends who were getting there degrees in film studies!

An oldie - Nosferatu ( 1922 German silent ) considering it was a silent film a lot had to be presented visually, and effects were rather good given the era it was made in.

Sure it was. And before that, DEVO's song Jocko Homo. DEVO founder Gerry Casale said he got the inspiration when he observed exhausted Goodyear workers coming off shift in his hometown, Akron, Ohio, as they lumbered like the beast men in The Island Of Lost Souls. Hence DEVO's long-time theme that the human race is de-evolving, concerned only with buying something new and finding something to eat. Casale and DEVO singer Mark Mothersbaugh contributed documentary segments on the Criterion Collection's restoration DVD release of The Island Of Lost Souls. "Are we not men? We are DEVO! D-E-V-O!"

Not necessarily a "horror movie", but Coraline is my all-time favorite. Definitely has some creepy vibes, and the Laika studios animation and soundtrack fits it perfectly. The book leaves significantly more to the imagination, and that is pretty scary. I've yet to watch Soylent Green, but one of my ROTC instructors always joked about Soylent Green being on the lunch menu. The blob used to scare me so bad as a kid too, specifically the scene where it comes out of a movie theater, after that all I could do when watching a movie was check over my shoulder to make sure I wasn't next!

Ghostbusters is a big favorite for me too, but also not really horror in a traditional sense, I find myself interested more in the fantasy engineering than I do the spooky parts. The old B&W Twilight Zone episodes are a really fun watch too, but again, the horror is more cheesy than it is scary nowadays, you'll definitely be laughing more than you are scared.

Honestly, the Halloween originals (besides 3) and the new trilogy have always been my favorite go to movies every year during the Halloween season.
I've also liked Nightmare on Elm Street series too, though the storyline is a bit twisted..

Not sure what I'm going to say is going to be a full horror per se, but a film that I like is Christine, a 1983 film about a red sentient Plymouth Fury, I've seen the film entirely and I liked it, also one of the tracks featured in the film ended up being my favorite, which is Bad To The Bone by George Thorogood & The Destroyers.

I also seen The Shining as well, and I'm sure I've seen it completely? and I still have that DVD of it somewhere, I hope.
