    Getting Started

To use the file download library or post messages in the forums new users must establish an account using a login name and password (it's free!). The name and password are anything that you choose. Each of the words are case sensitive. On future visits just use the same login name and password. Please remember that both the name and password are case sensitive. Write them down so you don't forget!

    Having Problems?

Having problems just seeing the site? Certain browsers seem to have bugs that cause problems when using a site like this one. To make use of this site, and most Web sites for that matter, you really need to be using an up to date browser such as Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Even with these browsers, there can be problems with the way the browsers cache Web pages, which causes problems with forms such as the login screen, new user registration form and dynamic pages used to display the results of file searchs. The problem can be worked around simply by hitting the browser's reload button whenever you get an error. You should also look in your browser configuration and turn caching and proxies (proxy servers) off.

    Turn Off Caching!

For many people this is the key to using Web sites like TrainSim.Com where the pages change dynamically. Exactly how you turn off caching depends on the browser you are using, and since there are so many versions we cannot give exact instructions. You'll simply have to learn how to use the software you are running. In general, browsers use one of two ways of controlling caching. There may be a check box to turn it off or on. Or they may be a cache size that you can control; setting the cache size to 0 (zero) is the same as turning it off. Or, instead of turning off caching there may be a box or series of boxes that control when the browser looks for new pages from the web site; if this is available you want to set your browser to always look for new updated pages (and thus not used old cached pages).

    Message Forums

In addition to our constantly updated file library we have a system of very active message forums where you can meet and converse with other train-sim enthusiasts. We now use only one registration to access the entire site, both the file library and the message forums:
