As I looked at the add, I had to dig deeper as to what train sim this was related to. Mentioning that this is for MSTS would have saved me the waste of time. The models look fantastic for MSTS, and good job to the creators. Its nice to see new assets still being made.
This sight gives new information to at least 4 different traim sims. Make that clear.

I see on their website that the BNSF set is only available to US customers.

Open rails has given a new life to MSTS if you haven't tried it and you have a copy of MSTS it is worth the trip many of the things we had asked for are now there. Better graphics, multiplayer and much more realism in operation. Open Rail is a Free front end for MSTS. I have been in train simulation since the beginning I bought trainz, Rail Works, Train Simulator and its variations. I also looked at Run8 but in the end after seeing Open rails that is where I went. and most likely will stay there. we run sessions at Shalako Station on semi regular basis. At any rate it isn't perfect, but then none of the sims are. There is nothing like good old friendly and comfortable dog by your side.

It's good to see Dekosoft re-enter the scene. This is one reason why I still play MSTS and Open Rails.

Because many of us don't want to re-invest the time we have put into MSTS with another sim. I have collected thousands of MSTS items (as I am sure other MSTS "die-hards" have as well), and to have the same amount of equipment in other "newer" sims means having to spend time to find, buy (in some cases), download, and install.

      Newer is not necessarily "better".

I noticed that with the release of this set, perhaps future Dekosoft re-releases are not free anymore? There is a charge of $10.00 for this set, which leads me wonder if the BNSF license has something to do with it?

This is what was posted on the Dekosoft Facebook group when I asked about the BNSF Super Set not being free.

Our licensing agreement with the trademark owner prohibits us from releasing freeware with their trademarks. Also we can only market to US customers

As happens all too often, it's not been mentioned that Open Rails is at BETA 0.9 version, and is not a finished train simulator program.

Given the amount of complaining about DTG's most recent iterations of TS/RW, it's not finished, either.

Function for function, I'll take the free and continually evolving beta, thank you.

I love using Open Rails, except for 0.9. It crashes when I try to use it. I still use the version before that.

Dude it says right at the top of the add here that it's for MSTS.

Yep! That covers "Why" and just to point out that there's a difference between NEW and LATEST? Old stuff can be "New" to some folk and often "the latest" is not fully tested and lacks what the old already had. There's also a much better balance between freeware and payware with MSTS. THE Classic Sims MSTS and FS9 and FSX have survived so long just because of this (IMO).

MSTS has had it's time. I used it for many years but have shelved it and now I use Run 8. It is without a doubt the most realistic simulator for public use out there. The physics and train handling are incredible. It's for those who appreciate what operating on a real American railroad is all about.

No quarrel with your point ...just to point out that "It's for those who appreciate what operating on a real American railroad is all about" describes firstly it's limitations and secondly that MSTS not only spans railways WORLDWIDE ....but also over several eras.

You must not confuse YOUR preference's with what any of the individual SIMS have achieved ...or continue TO achieve?

I'm certainly NOT confused. I'm taking nothing away from other simulations that are out there. I did clarify that I was talking about American railroading and nothing else worldwide. I have zero interest in worldwide operations. I am well aware of the worldwide aspect of the other simulations and their appeal to those with said interests. My prerogative isn't so much eye candy as it is real operating practices and physics realism.
