We were on Amtrak headed east out of Denver. As I watched the miles go by I noticed a signal with a sign saying Left Hand Signal. What exactly is that? I.E. how does it differ from a normal signal?
    Thanks
    Mike

There's nothing abnormal about the signal except that it's on the left-hand side of the track that it governs. A signal should be on the right side of said track unless there's a good reason for it to not be. That sign is affixed to signals to emphasize to train crews which track it applies to, especially in situations where multiple tracks may make it ambiguous.

Thanks. I figured it was something simple like that.
