I have both the MNS and ARMN versions of the Evans Boxcars as HO models. I'd certainly be up for a accurate Open Rails model.

If Pete makes the car, maybe I'll chip in a few versions myself. I remember these cars.

Those cars would be great to see come to life, as VTR, and B&M had a bunch of them as well!
Update Shot. SLOW because I'm learning Blender... no small feat.

I'm debating modeling the car ends... or leaving them flat.
Pete those look amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! thank thank thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic work there sir. While I'd like it if the ends were in 3D (Adds quite a bit of pop.), that's probably be rather difficult. If you don't fully model the ends, add a bit of a beveled offset to simulate the ends. Just capture the overall shape, not each individual rib.
Excellent modelling!
Pete, The sides and roof look fantastic. IMHO, the ends could look better as well, but I can take it either way. Or how about doing both? Just a thought. BTW, your PM is full. I too am beginning work in Blender. Followed your lead but taking it a bit slower. 3D Crafter was good but not Blender good. This looks to be the development platform going forward.......and it is free, just like OR.

Carry On and Blend Well
Well, I sort of forgot about it... It wasn't touched since October 2020. So. to get reacquainted with it (and now that I have a little more Blender knowledge under my belt( I gave it a quick PHOTO-skin to see how well I matched things up. No lie, I didn't move those door details... I had them in the right place. (Small miracle). Note: only 2 rods are un-hidden.
