One could always jump back to 1974 and haul a couple of salt hoppers down to Mojave. :)

By "Railfan Dan", as he calls himself.
Popped up on YT today.
This is a beautiful little clip, expertly shot and in high rez.

Thank you. :)
I shall do my best.
Yeah....I know what you mean! :D
There are a couple of real-life videos which show the shunting/switching operations and that grade is quite steep.
This is an interesting area.....almost totally...
A short (10min) video of the included-in-the-route activity involving empty coal cars at Searles.

Thanks. :)
Have you uploaded all these to the Steam Workshop?
Sorry that I can't offer any helpful advice, Vern, as I don't use the tagging/fowarding system.
I just trundle about, picking up or dropping off as per info provided by others....James amongst them....
I'm thoroughly enjoying operating on this branch-line. :)
Thanks, Vern.
As you were posting, I was searching! :D
And came up with this.............

Thanks, squire. :)
Interesting videos but neither of them provides answers to my questions.
What is the coal shipped to Trona for? Is there a power station there that requires power for the potash mining/processing/whatever?
And why carloads of acid.....is that used for the potash plant?
True....so he would have been happy with the Trona end of that branch, with its loading loop. :)
Oh, right. :)
From what I gather (from what someone posted elsewhere), the Mojave lines "route" which contains Trona was put together by Otto Wipfel and someone else, so yes, that would be back a...
Hmmm......can't agree with you on that point, Vern.
Have a look at the landscapes around the Barstow area in the Cajon Pass route in any of the TS20XX versions. Much closer to what should be...
This small post refers to the depiction of the Trona Branch in two sims...Run 8 and TS20XX. It's simply to give some indication of what each version provides.
I have just completed a run from...
Brilliant, James!
Jeez.....essential info for operating this route prototypically.
Then consider yourself lucky that we don't also have a Kiwi and a Springbok in this group! :D
Just like real life, Vern. :)
UPDATE
It's 40mph, Brad.
About a mile or so out from the main at Mojave, the HUD changes from 15 to 40 mph. There is no line-side speed board, however.
I'll see what happens when I approach...
Thanks muchly, Brad. :)
(It's Bruce, actually.....Vern is the Pommy, I'm the Aussie :D )
That info is available on the .PDF that's included with the route itself.
However, what isn't advised is the speed limit(s) along this line when exiting from the Mojave yard.
I have a permanent...
It's been done very well in this TS20XX edition, although I think I am missing some assets.
Like you said in that other thread.....Trainz would make a good choice for doing this route.
That combination will take you to either the front of your train or the rear....hit it again to toggle.
Then use Ctrl+Arrows to move around very fast or Shift+Arrows to move more slowly.
This...
Two shots taken from the very large Cajon/Mojave/Trona route.
