This really sounds like an excellent and well thought out path forward. It's true that many people object to change, but sometimes it has to come and what Eric is doing here looks like the results...
The photo doesn't really capture just how bad it was!

I was in Nashua NH with a friend yesterday, having lunch at this great roast beef sandwich place, when we both heard a train horn. I was not familiar with the...
Having spent quite a bit of time thinking about search over the years, let me tell you there is no easy solution to all of this! Changes you make to "fix" one problem often have unintended side...
Great story, thanks for sharing!

Isn't that the truth! Seeing Pan Am on trains has always seemed weird to me too.
Still spotted occasionally; just last weekend I saw a Pan Am box car parked in Worcester.
The dictionary definition even says:
ENGINE:
1. a machine with moving parts that converts power into motion.
"the roar of a car engine"
2. a railroad locomotive.
Apparently they are meant to deflect tree branches away from the windows.
That's so cool that people are actually building new steam locomotives in 2023 :-)
Nice truck/train action :-)
Yes, the intermodal yards are easy to spot by the company name.
Of course in ETS2 there is also a small locomotive available as a cargo.
Lots of delivery points are intermodal yards, so there are trains around. I think I was in Wyoming where one of the delivery points was actually in a rail yard next to a roundhouse. And you quite...
OK, I'm a big truck sim fan too :-)
So, here's a challenge for you: while you're sharing ATS screen shots, how about doing shots that also have trains or railyards in them? There should be quite a...
The challenge I see tying this access to posts is that it will inspire some to make garbage posts just to gain access. This can mean making some tough judgement calls, i.e. if someone posts "Thanks...
It's nice to see what other things people do besides running trains. This is really creative! Giving the small size the detail is pretty amazing.
Interesting news about AmBus. Will they be adding a PmBus for people who want to travel in the afternoon?
It's nice to see Eric bringing some fresh ideas to the site. The railroad themed color schemes are a great idea! I imagine many of you noticed my tendency to use New Haven Railroad colors, as that...

We must have been near neighbors for a time then, since I've lived in Framingham since around 1981...
I would have enjoyed this as a steam railroad too, but I'll take what they offered. I'm glad they did it during the classic diesel period rather than the current period. I like the history :-)
The...
According to what I've read Rick Grout is the lead designer behind this.
I've now run the route end to end. The parts that I know well from railfanning and quite recognizable. The worst detraction...
I know that building! Years ago I remember you could walk by it and hear the relays clacking away inside :-)
For some more fun, and then went and did the same route using a different sim!
The photgrammetry looks good from a distance but doesn't compare with the train simulator scenery when up close.
