Long, long ago, in a universe far, far, away, a little company called V Scale Creations launched a few commercial projects that were ground breaking at the time, such as:
* First ever...
Thanks for the input, all.
Considering uploading basic MSTS Bin file to my web space and including link to same in my sales receipts for customers that purchase the Ozark Northern (which needs...
Hello Ged:
I don't know much about the inner workings of MSTS Bin, it was installed in my MSTS a long time ago.
I have downloaded the file with the name below. Question: Is this an English...
DEM's:
Good deal. Over the years I've watched some new route builders lose heart when they discover DEM's are available... and they've got umpteen hours in a billiard table (no DEM) route that...
Hello Cade!
Any Frisco-based route is a welcomed addition.
Are you using Digital Elevation Models (DEM) on your route? If not, you will lack the prototype's terrain setting.
That is a truly superb scene.
Wonder how difficult it will be to back date the finished product to the 1890s? :)
True that.
I never could discipline myself to do that, though. I always end up laying track for a monstrosity that I'll never finish. I have several such monstrosities on my hard drive. Want one?...
Very nice!
Was the 5% grade on the prototype, or are you having to "imagineer" the track, account of lack of data, and that's just how it worked out?
It's my understanding that hgt data is right at 90m DEM. SDTS as well as NED can both be had in 10m as well as 30m (for distant mountains). There is a significant detail difference between terrain...
As I read it, be advised that this link you shared: http://www.webgis.com/terr_us1deg.html
...takes you to 90 meter DEM. That means it was sampled at 90 meter intervals. (Not very accurate.)

This is wonderful news, Dale!
Your considerable effort on this is nuch appreciated by this old head.
Hi Jerry!
Yes, default values through there. I'm "draining" a dadgum reservoir in that location... some 8 miles of reservoir. When finished South Platte River will be running alongside the rails...
Ah, so VT's "Import" function doesn't read/handle the new UGSG tiff format, so you "click/drag" the USGS tiff into the working screen of VTB as a work around?
Can VTB crop/save the larger USGS...
Robert:
I clicked the link to take a look. Tried to do their 1, 2, 3 step and it hung on "2 Continue", and after several minutes never produced the next step.
Todd:
Thanks for your input....
Vern:
You may be onto something in that it's an aging problem with DEMEX: The data has passed its "legacy" ability to read/apply.
Todd:
Have you tried using VT Builder since the USGS has again changed their tif format? I have read VT can on longer convert current USGS tif's into a DEMEX usable format.
Thanks Charles and Ged.

I think I recall that "Shift Z" activates the FPS indicator, but I also think there are hot keys for:

* Bounding Boxes

I thought I'd read that if TSRE is used to add tiles, terrain, etc, then how it handles the data is different than the way RE handles it, and...
TSRE:
I'm sure it's a great program for those so inclined.
It's my understanding once you import DEM via TSRE you're stuck with it, for RE can no longer read the data. Is that correct? If so,...
Found it/fixed it.
It was in the tile ceiling/floor depth menu. Adjusted the tile to a lower floor and all is well. Haven't a clue why this particular tile had a different floor setting.
Okay, I've come upon something I have yet to see.
Background: In the process of draining a large reservoir. All was going well until I crossed a tile border and implemented the Y key. This picture...
That's because it's all going to Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma... and all the other US states that have made it legal!! LOL!
Once it was legalized here in OK, small "dispensaries" seemingly sprung...
