OK basically you first need to create new services. A service = consist + path. Your new services for the traffic would use the same path as the old traffic but with the new consists you want to use....

Yes that was my main problem, having to rename all the .act, .srv, etc. files. I ended up writing a little command line script to do it. I think I might have also needed to copy textures and shapes...

What is a "viewDB"?

If you go to the directory where TSRE is installed you should find a file called log.txt. It may have a clue as to what is causing your problem.

One can also avoid the need for TrainStore with MSTS by setting up miniroutes. How I handled it until I converted to ORTS.

The only thing that TSRE AE doesn't do is paths. For that you use the ORTS track viewer (from ORTS main menu, select tools).

A buffer is just another kind of track section. Any track changes will break a path that uses it which in turn will break the activity.
In some cases you might be able to repair the paths in ORTS...
