Default Persistent uncoupling problem (Marias, Cutbank)!

I know there is a solution to this persistent problem without modifying every wag file in my consists but I have searched the board (posts) to find it. (No luck) Every time I enter Cutbank over that bridge I am uncoupled/broken...activity ended. No help in MSTS. Ok my consist UP-8500 Turbine ABB plus 12 UP coach. When you have kept to the limits for three hours and get snagged entering Cutbank at 6 mph or 12 mph it's a little frustrating. I've discussed the switch problem prior to the bridge before but unfortunately MSTS does not give a post-mortem diagram of where the break is. Is it at the switch or on the rise up to the bridge itself? Any help appreciated as I really like this route!

    John,
Look in the FAQ's here at Train-Sim, there is a fix for the switches. It is simple to do and that should eliminate the problem. But, I would also download engmod from the file section here and use it to modify your coupler break values. The program is fairly small and very easy to use.

Please excuse my entry into this discussion, but I too have the broken coupler syndroome. I downloaded EngMod, but do not know which of the many parametes listed have to do with the couplers breaking. Can you (or anyone) list the parameter(s)?

    Thank you.

    1.Open engmod.
2.locate the trainset folder in the top and select one eng file
    3. on the left find "break" and click on it.
    4. you will see on the right it will show the break values:
1.7e7N 1.7e7N the valuse maybe different but it should look like this.
    5. in the space below put what you want the valuse to be, I use the following:
    3.7e7N 3.7e7N
Then click on change all and it will change all of the eng and wag files.

This puts a bak file for each file that is changed. After I am done editing I do a search in explorer for all bak files in the trainset folder and then delete them.

    Kev,

You have to hilite all the eng/wag files before you can 'change all'

I'm having the same problem. Every so often, and it's really troublesome on certain spots, my train breaks. Sometimes it's like ALL the cars just suddenly magically uncouple themselves, and then I have to rock the engine back and forth to recouple them. I'll be moving along and I'll F-9 my consist and find part or all of it missing. I have not gotten a "sim ended" type message for a broken coupler, because the couplers didn't break, just the cars uncoupled. Any ideas? I'm also thinking about writing microsoft about this problem.

Run the Supercharged Dash9 with a 20 car or more consists starting at Shelby. At the end(whitefish), you have 4 cars plus the loco left. :)

I have found that if you delete the bridge at Cutbank, that takes care of the uncoupling problem....oh, but then you have another problem. Maybe if would be best if you just modify the break valves.
