Quote for their page...

"The action of the Board was in response to the spiraling costs of insurance,"

Just another example of insurance companies and lawyers f#$%ing us again.

God I hate both of them!

LAST EDITED ON Jun-14-02 AT 02:09AM (EDT)[p]Why put an operating steamer out of service? Why not sell it or run it like every once in a while? I don't get it. The U.S. doesn't have enough operating steamers as it is! Why make one less steamer huh?

Lets save the 1522 guys. Maybe TA can send there donations there to save here of just sell the 1522 in add on pack. I will do anything to save her for my kids to see her breathing fire.

Well, for you Santa Fe steam fans, guess what. I have heard a small rumor that ATSF 3751 maybe getting FRA permission to pull some BNSF Employee Specials in the future. I don't really believe this but anything could be true. Also, this year the same engine is going to Arizona and running on the Grand Canyon Railway sometime in the upcoming months.

So maybe there is some good coming out of all this steam retirements.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-14-02 AT 11:44AM (EDT)[p]BNSF DID NOT stuff and mount her. The nations insurance companies did. SLSTA probably couldn't justify the increased costs.

Adam- I don't think anything short of a HUGE donation is gonna "Save" the 1522. She doesn't need "saving" She's already saved--going to a museum for ALL to see. EDIT: which is better than a scrappers torch or the UP, isn't it?

I mean, if UP got her, they'd patch the Frisco lettering with UP letters, and put wings in front of the herald on the front. :-(

I don't call going to a museum being saved! I want my kids to see her on a steam excursion not in a museum.

lets see i am 1 block from UP main line and i could i dunno any idea's?!!!!
OH i got it if any of youre relitives work for a railroad have them spread the news bout Frico's loco in danger!
my uncle ( distant one ) is a BNSF loco electrician!
he loves trains and i could tell him to spread the word about Frico's steam loco going on display!

Union Pacific railorad is the the best railroad in the world!
if we want it to stay like that we better pay tribute!
Union Pacifc Railroad has ben around longer then any other MAJOR railroad. UP is the best MIX of all railroad stuff.
